Just be wary of the small amount of lenses available for the e-mount. Other than that, I am very happy about my NEX-3, although it's not entirely small even with the 16mm pancake lens.

Hell I want a Fuji, they seem to be a nice company that'll actually backport some of their new additions and all that good stuff. But then I looked at the price, and I must've gotten my Nex real cheap, because there's no way I can afford a Fuji and a few lenses.

Re: Fuji chat & pricing from last night. I got my first edition Nex 3 for about 400USD with two lenses, but the absolute cheapest I can find a used Fuji X-E1 with a single lens is 1000USD. The X-E2's not even available used, and it's about 1800USD new with an 18-55 lens. Denmark's expensive I guess

Hi mirrorless thread. I'm currently using a first-gen Sony NEX 3, with the kit lens, the 16mm pancake and some adapted m42 lenses. I've been eyeing the Fuji X-T1, but I can't justify the pricetag, sexy as it may be. Now I've in the meantime gotten an offer for a used NEX 7, at roughly USD 650. Now that's pretty cheap, but I dont know if there's any real reason to upgrade to the NEX 7. I can see that it has better bracketing options, better dials and ofcourse an EVF. I can get the 50mm f/1.8 along with the body for a further USD 190, which is a little below half the retail price. So I submit to you, would it be worth it? I don't think I'll ever manage to save for the X-T1, and if I do, I doubt I'll be able to justify spending that kind of money on it when I dont really shoot that many pictures.

Manual focus takes practice, especially if you're trying to get something moving in focus. But yeah, with peaking you should be able to do alright. Just be really critical of what lenses you buy, as a lot of older glass is pretty soft compared to modern glass. I only have one really sharp older lens, the rest is pretty soft. Either that, or you'll pay almost as much for some old glass as you could get new glass for.

I have actually been looking at the X-E1,but I'm a little worried about the viewfinder lagging too much. From what I've seen of YouTube videos, it seem like it might be a problem. Also, I'm in socialist Europe, so the cheapest X-E1 kit I've been able to find is $1100 I figure that with customs and shipping, I wouldn't be able to save much by buying from the US. E: yes the reason for why I want to go with fuji, is that I want to buy in to their system. I like the way they do business, and I hate the way Sony does theirs. -Anders fucked around with this message at 08:55 on May 20, 2014 |
