I'm almost considering switching to Verizon due to Sprint's lovely carrot-on-a-stick attitude towards 4G, except it seems like it is going to be a lot more expensive than what I have now. What are people's typical bills after fee's/taxes/insurance for the 450 minute/1000 minute or unlimited text/ 2GB data? Also, those who switched from Sprint, is it a night and difference between speeds on 3G?

No MMS but it's free and the features kick all sorts of rear end. Is there any way to get a percentage discount besides working for a company that gets a Verizon discount? Right now Sprint gives me a 10% "employee" discount just because I switched to them from US Celllular.

Just gave this a shot, I have a feeling that my work e-mail will block it but we will see. I'm just going to ask how our suits use for wireless service. You can make it so when people call it, you cell rings, and when you call them, your GV number is displayed. I'm trying to understand what you're saying here. I port my old number to GV from Sprint...then sign up for new service with Verizon with a new number? Or am I porting my number from Sprint to Verizon then porting it to GV? If its the former, after porting my number to google voice would I have to call Sprint and cancel manually?

Ok now that I mentioned how much I love the Nexus...I do have one gripe. Is it a common thing with 4.0.2 to lose all reception for absolutely no reason? I have no 3g, no 4g, and no bars. It seems to happen at least once or twice a day. Otherwise I usually have 3-4 bars. If this is common, does 4.0.4 address this? edit: After a bit of digging, it looks like this isn't a Nexus thing at all, but something with Verizon's LTE authentication. I guess it happens to all 4G phones. Auron fucked around with this message at 15:18 on Mar 16, 2012 |

I had the same issues that mrchina had up until flashing 4.0.4. It really is sad how slow updates are for this phone when the issues it has are pretty serious. Remember most people are ignorant on rooting and flashing roms, so the Nexus has to be pretty disappointing to a lot of people with 4.0.2s extremely terrible radios. Also even with 4.0.4 the battery life is atrocious. This is supposed to be a phone that just works....and so far it hasn't meet that criteria. Having said all the negative stuff, I do really enjoy ICS and its a really awesome device and hopefully 4.0.5 is the magical cure to everything including battery life.

That statement didn't make sense to me as the Galaxy Nexus you walk in and buy today is the same experience as the one that launched back in December. It hasn't yet been updated to make whatever issues that were referred to go away. Yeah it does seem like one of those YMMV phones...which is completely unacceptable. I "just" get the dropped data/voice 3-4 times a day even with the leaked 4.0.4. Too be honest I am a little disappointed in my purchase overall, although it was only $99...and switching to Verizon's lovely/expensive plans to get LTE. I'm going to give it some time until the next iphone comes out, if its not ironed out by then I'm selling it for sure and ditching Android for good most likely. And to those that say "flash xxx rom", no, that doesn't solve the radio issues, and never will until official radio updates are released.

I know Motorola gets a lot of love from some people here, but so far I'm not too impressed. Don't get me wrong I really like my Galaxy Nexus, HOWEVER, it does have its fair share of problems that STILL haven't been ironed out yet, noteably the constant data/voice dropping which seems to be evident in pretty much every phone (as its a software issue). It is really sporadic though, somedays I'm perfectly fine, others constantly dropping signal for no reason. Also battery life is horrific if you don't limit what apps can do. Its just hard to recommend a buggy phone to someone who most likely isn't all that tech savvy, isn't going to be flashing custom ROMS/kernels, etc. I just flashed LiquidSmooth and Franco kernel on mine and it seems to have remedied the battery life issue other than when the screen is on, which really can't be helped. I've said it before, but I'm going to see how the software is up until the next iPhone is released...I'm sure it will be ironed out by then. I like my LTE.
