Lolie posted:You'd think they'd be happy when the trading volume picks up and there are large sales just like on real exchanges...but apparently not. Bitcoins are suffering from being a deflationary currency. No one wants to spend the currency because it's likely to increase in value in the long term (excluding the bubble they may be worth $10 one day in the distant future). You cannot base a banking system on the currency either. The depression was caused by terrible gold backed currency and laws were amended in 1933 banning the hoarding of gold and exchanging the gold for paper money. We couldn't have financed the world we live in with a deflationary currency. Welcome to the bitcoin depression.

I think they'd be okay with dumping $10 to post here and get banned. I mean, those ten dollars are fiat poo poo that aren't backed by anything, and they'll be valueless within decades. Now, if it were to cost .8 bitcoins, then it would be throwing away something of value.

Atlas got jumped on a few weeks ago because his website was hijacking people's computers but he swears he took the script off his site. I managed to listen to his first podcast without picking up anything so I'm not sure when his script was active. It might be worth running Malwarebytes to see whether it flags it. Also, the wallet address to which the coins are being sent will be in the programme. Some goons are still in good standing over at their forums so we might be able to track down who's responsible if you can find the address.

If you checked your task manager while it was running, you wouldn't see a separate process, it would just look like Firefox was reeeeaaally busy all the sudden. All you needed to do to stop it was close your browser. Herpus's little problem is new and much more troubling.

I think the most interesting part about all this is that pretty much the best, least cloying, and most direct advice atlas needs to hear about his general immaturity (both personally as well as ideologically) is .. well, right here in this thread! It's a phase, atlas! Lots of us go through it! It's nothing to be ashamed of, unless you don't grow out of it. Then you become a fidgety fat person spending most of their time online, trapped in a beastly pathos of implicating society and governance for one's own financial and personal shortcomings.

He's talking like he's already revolutionized twitter in ways that make no sense and are demonstrably over-inflated, and he now thinks he's set to claim a meager 10% of the online porn industry. Yeah, I've tried slowly trolling Atlas into being a normal human being before but eventually came to the conclusion that he's pretty much doomed to being found alone and dead by his keyboard at 40 or with a lifelong jail sentence after killing 'parasites' at college or something equally depressing. He holds himself and his terrible ideas in such high regard but has zero empathy for anyone else or contempt for any thought process that isn't objectivism.
