SGU basically bitch slapped the other two series by virtue of better writing, cinematography, and disinterest in an episodic formula. This is why it failed.

It failed because the first season wasn't as "good" as the second one. That and musical montages.

I don't know. They would have had to make Greer a Major or something, because all the enlisted in the first two shows are incompetant fools. Only officers got to be remotely good at their jobs, unless you're that guy counting chevrons.

Stargate definitely had a problem with the Air Force being staffed entirely with commissioned officers. Same with Star Trek, though you can kind of forgive Trek that one, being set in the future and all.

I think Chief O'Brien was an NCO. Although, he was the redshirt that never died. Only suffered miserably in every episode about him.

Vancouver is realms cheaper than filming in Hollywood, or even Oregon. While it makes for a lot of lovely sci-fi (and Twilight) creeping in, it also gave us BSG and the namesake of this thread. You may already know this, but the Tallon homeworld area and the Caprican market are the same location: the Quad at SFU in Vancouver!

All the laptops were gone by the time I got there. I did manage to buy a $50 mouse for $1 though. I wonder if Joe Mallozzi used this to click something with!

I may or may not have bought a bunch of props and uniforms... (They were only $10 each!!)

I'll post some pictures in a bit.

edit: I think I got this guy's uniform http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Chen and a black hat that said O'Neil on the inside.

I bought 4 or so military jackets, one of them has a bullet hole and some blood. There was even a picture of the guy who played Chen wearing it pinned onto the jacket. Didn't buy the pants though because they were too big.

I think I might have bought a Genii jacket too? Not too sure, I'll take pictures of those later if people wouldn't mind identifying what they are.

Anyway, some pictures from today:

I thought they were double breasted too so I'm not sure what these are from. There's a square on the collar which i'm guessing represents rank. Possibly low ranking Genii redshirts or another race?

I have 2 flightsuits and some Marines jackets of some dead guys on SGU. Kind of afraid to wash O'Neill's hat, might erase the production writing on the inside.

I don't know why SciFi would want to cut out one of the "original" characters but then again, look what happened to that channel.

Anyway, there's been an influx of terrible Michael Shanks TV movies airing here almost every day in Canada lately. I really doubt he left Stargate to make these.
