Thanks. We sadly haven't recorded any more, but we did play a full set in a local radio show. It can be found in it's entirety here, interspersed with interviews in a bizarre language you won't understand (It's the entire first half of the show): http://www.ruv.is/frett/skurinn/instrumental-rokk-og-popp-i-skurnum

setlist:
Joe Satriani - Summer Song (starts at 01:09)
Joe Satriani - The Extremist (08:59)
Joe Satriani - Crush of Love (12:45)
Andy Timmons - Deliver Us (21:25)
Joe Satriani - Crystal Planet (27:04)
Steve Vai - Jibboom (31:50)

We may be a bit overly fond of Satriani. We have since implemented a "No more Joe Satriani songs" policy.

Anyway, can someone help me out? I've been meaning to the set from that site for a while now, but I haven't a clue how I'd go about it.

These are some old videos I recorded about two years ago with my last band, 5 to Life. I played bass for this band. Since then, the guitarist on the left side of the stage was fired, and I was fired in July. I had 3 sets worth from this show, but deleted them as it wasn't a particularly good show. Only these videos remain. Just basic top 20 country here.

I'm not getting too much feedback in the Rockstar thread so I hope it's ok if I cross-post here. I'm not a very strong singer but I'm almost happy with my performance here, even though there's plenty of room for improvement. Any tips other than the obvious (breath support!) would be greatly appreciated. The same goes for the mix: I don't really know what I'm doing in that department most of the time and mainly just don't touch anything and hope for the best, so I could really use some pointers.

Nice voice dude; you have a really rich tone. As far as the track goes, I think the biggest improvement would be a bit more rehearsal on the first part of the second verse (with support) followed by a punch-in for that section. When you work on a track for forever it's easy to become numb to pitch mistakes. Other than that, the rest of the performance is pretty good. I liked it.

I really dig the Blue Monday cover, as I told you repeated Soundcloud.

The Adonis cover is fun, but the bassline seems to be missing somewhere in the track :) It's your version though, so you have all the artistic license that you'd like.

I'm gonna need to see some ID. An artistic license perhaps?

slight derail:
For some reason, it seems that people who use acoustic instruments are more likely to cover songs than people who use electronic instruments. Also, I hate the usage of the word "producer" to describe a musician who uses the computer/synthesizer/a studio as their instrument. What's up with that? Why are you a producer if you play your studio?

My band did an interview/filmed a video for one of the local papers in Phoenix a while ago. They have a column where they'll visit the band's practice space, interview them, and film them playing a song from an artist that's influenced them in some way. We had just done a Police set for a cover show, so this seemed appropriate. (Ignore me loving up at the end of the song)

NEVER play "Lady of Spain" AGAIN!

I just wanted to come out of lurking this thread to say that you guys are all amazing and I'm enjoying scoping out your music. As a result I now have a ton of goon covers that get regular rotation in my everyday playlists. As it turns out, I like a lot of y'all's covers even better than the original songs. All of you make me wish I had stuck with music a little harder back in the day instead of giving it up.

I kinda hope someone can help me out here -- I picked up an awesome cover of "When Doves Cry" but I don't have anyone's username attached to it. It's got super slick vocals and minimal instrumentation, primarily drums -- I think I remember that whoever posted it said that it was supposed to be a drum solo piece, maybe? I thought I originally found it in this thread but I couldn't find a link when I went back through (it's highly possible that I missed it). If it was you who did the cover, or you know who did, can you let me know so I can give that mystery goon credit in my playlist? Right now the "Artist" slot is blank and it's driving me crazy.

E: I found it. From RockStar 22 - The 80s. Magnificent7, you beautiful bastard, this was incredible: http://tindeck.com/listen/etdi

I'm pretty nervous about posting here since all the stuff that's been posted over the last four pages has been amazing, but here it goes.

I am a self-taught musician (besides piano, I had lessons for that), and I have no singing experience at all. Every now and then I will make a cover and post it on Youtube, and the very few comments that I've received were pretty positive.

I've finally worked up the courage to post here and would love some honest feedback. Some of these are old and I don't remember how to play them any more, but I would still like to hear what you think.

Keep in mind that I have zero special sound recording devices and no video/sound editing capabilities. I just applied for a lottery computer loan through my work, and if I get that, I'm getting a laptop and software that is good for music production because I would like to do more of it.

Anyway, on to the covers.

These are my newest ones which I worked out earlier this month. As you can see at the very start I wrote down the lyrics, listened to the music, and wrote down the chords that I heard. The piano stuff is all improvised.

Susanne Sundfor - When https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmWj4iHD2o4

Susanne Sundfor - White Foxes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxbCxR4WnrY

Susanne has a very high voice which is frankly out of my range, I hope it sounds alright to you. We are remodeling our house which is why it looks like I'm playing piano in an abandoned building.

Here are some older covers that I've done.

This one is from January 2011. I had just got a guitar from a friend and was teaching myself how to play. I picked up a guitar a few years before but couldn't remember and chords, and had this guitar for about a month before I made this cover. Sorry about the lovely quality, it was produced with Windows Movie Maker.

George Harrison - Beware of Darkness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZK4Q6JY2Ao

This is more in range for my voice. This is also back when I still lived in an apartment and was nervous about the neighbors hearing me, so I'm singing rather quietly. Added bonus of the blisters that I developed from learning that cover.

Going back even further in time to 2009, I did a Dresden Dolls cover. I need to redo this because the quality sucks and I'm pitchy and it's like a thousand times faster than the original song.

Dresden Dolls - Delilah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXrGsRVeQso

Finally, I had this cool keyboard that had drum loops and would let you record stuff on top of stuff, so I made a few lame things like Bach covers.

Prelude in C Minor - Bach https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoGUVheujwk

There are a few more gems on my youtube channel but they are bad. If you want to take a peek go ahead but be prepared to laugh at the lack of being good.

I am interested to hear what you think, and hopefully if I get a new computer and some good equipment, I can post here again with better stuff.
