Is that going to be the case for all the future costumes including the AE characters' outfits? The first two sets of costumes are on-disc while the third set is "real" DLC, if you don't have the Alt 3 costumes saved on your hard drive there's nothing for the game to show you. My guess is they stuck the extra costumes for the AE characters in the AE download but anything that gets released after that will have to be new content like pack 3.

Microsoft allowed the costume packs to be distributed for free so everyone has the costumes on their local drive and can see other players using them. Sony declined to do so. So only players who bought and downloaded the costume pack actually have the data on their harddrives.

washow posted:I can't play smart because online players play dumb as gently caress. I'm having a hard time playing like a retard basically Yeah it's really annoying when you play against someone who like just jumps around all match and spams dps whenever he's within half a screen of you. You try to time your antiairs or pokes/punishes right, but countering that poo poo is way harder than doing it seems to be. If he fucks up and I antiair right, that's like 100 damage to him. If I gently caress up and his j.rh into whatever combo hits, that's like 400 damage to me. I know the answer is "quit being a loving scrub" but god dammit losing to that poo poo makes me want to just give up on every being any good at these game. Also gently caress online Blanka, Vega, Balrog, Guile, and Bison.

It's about recognising where they're mashing out ultras and baiting that situation next time. Sometimes you'll get hit with random garbage; but if you keep getting hit with it after the fact, then you're the one with the problem and not them. I learned that when I was bitching about similar poo poo and I've since shut my mouth because instead of dropping Fei (who can lose to random garbage quite easily if you're reckless), I tightened up my play and learned how to avoid being put into that situation. I just dislike the suggestion that losing to stupidity means that you put a character in the too hard basket and move onto something "easier". Smart play will always beat dumb play on a long enough timeline, and sometimes doing the most basic thing is the best option. Simplification of your strategy is often smart play even if it isn't flashy. Watching Mike Ross on the weekend helps to understand that. Dude got to the top 16 against sickening competition with little else but good reads, solid fundamentals, and plenty of mental toughness. Honda is built to play like that, so it's a good fit. I'd also say stop playing bad players. All it teaches you is how to beat bad players.

washow posted:I can't play smart because online players play dumb as gently caress. I'm having a hard time playing like a retard basically The way you take advantage of this is to say to yourself "this guy jumps in all day, so I am going to go two whole rounds without jumping and hit <your character's anti-air> every time." Lemons -> lemonade. This doesn't work with Makoto though because even XBL's dumbest motherfuckers stop jumping after getting dizzied by an anti-air. If you know the player and their dumb tendencies, just play to that while you force yourself to not be dumb. If you know they dp all day or always do the same blockstring no matter what, pick a huge combo you'd like to work on and focus on hitting that consistently. There's nothing wrong with using retards to train some basics like spotting opportunities to do things. Their dumbassed randomness actually makes them good for it. The key is to develop the discipline required to stop yourself from being dragged down to their level and that's a good asset to have later on when you play good people. It makes you harder to bait into doing stupid poo poo. Smegmatron fucked around with this message at Jun 28, 2011 around 04:44 |

I think there is an update you can get off of PSN or XBL that allows you to see them without owning them. Got my Madcatz stick in the mail today, PS3 tells me an "Unknown USB device has been connected" Got the joystick to tick around a few times when I first plugged it in, nothing since then. All tech support inquiries and Google searches point to me receiving a bum stick. Figures. Guess I'll be waiting a little longer to play than I thought.

I think I identified my biggest problem. Lack of anti air. My dp loses to all kinds of air attacks and it's always bad for me since I have low stam. You guys keep telling me to just lk dragon kick late but it's not working!! It either trades (badly) or just loving downright lose. Non-shotos I'm generally owning with divekick mindgames. I have so many options it's crazy. But when it's shoto, I get scared by phantom shoryukens
