Capcom-Unity is streaming the public playing Street Fighter x Tekken.

The very second I open that stream I hear a symphony of SHORYUKEN soundclips from SF4 as flowchat Ken and Ryu players play SF4 with shaky lifebars edit: is anyone actually excited for this? Cromlech fucked around with this message at Jun 7, 2011 around 19:54 |

I'm also broke and will have to miss out on a week or so of amazingly awesome AE console fun and practice my Cody combos, alone, offline, in training mode. 40 OZ posted:No, lots of people like him, and he has been in other games. Specifically, Capcom Fighting Evolution and Tatsunoko Vs Capcom. I'd also be surprised if Alex doesn't make an appearance in SFvT as a further tie-in with the release of 3s.

Mike Ross is excited for it, and I think the greatest fighter game player knows a thing or two about what's good or not.

Mike Ross is excited for it because its like SF4. That's also the worst part about this game, it honestly doesn't seem very different from SF4 at all, right down to the slow pace. It is awhile off, so I won't hate entirely until it releases and it turns out to be the same game we're watching now.

Juggle combos and wakeup rolls could add interesting twists, but so far yeah I agree that it looks like SF4 all over again and very boring to me.

Something that doesn't affect the gameplay persay but makes the game alot slower in practice is long rear end cinematic moves, and i'm seeing a ton of this crap in the SFvT previews. I'll cite the RedLetterMedia SW reviews and say that brevity is the soul of wit and stop wasting my time. ST and 3S manage to get the idea across that some guy hit another guy really hard in 2-3 seconds. I guess I'm just a crazy cynical bastard but FGs seem to be going in the exact opposite direction. I'm just sitting there, twiddling my thumbs, getting older, dying slowly, watching Abel shout at the top of his lungs like a moron for 30 seconds for the 5000th time. I hear about these players who do fatalities in MK9 every single match and are just sitting there clapping like seals every time they see it and I'm just this is a bad trend and game design stop it stop it stop it let it die with SF4

I'm surprised by it, but I'm actually digging Evil Ruy quite a bit. I poked around but I can't find any good matchup information for AE, does Evil Ruy have any good matchups to compliment my Cody main? Also, I doubt it's practical but Evil Ryu can do all 5 of his specials in a single combo

MrJacobs posted:What is a practical way to stop this trend in today's gaming market? Psychiatric therapy to accept the inevitable. I like to think this is just because the whole 'crazy cinematic 3-D effects' thing is a newish tool in the fighting game developer's hands, so they are going buckwild with it. I'm sure it is exciting to animate one of those nutty supers like Akuma's U2, but eventually people will get over it, I think.

40 OZ posted:Psychiatric therapy to accept the inevitable. It's not limited to 3D games, and it really is a modern trend. Tager's Astral Finish takes like 20 loving seconds. Granted it doesn't happen quite as often as an SF4 ultra, but it's way more obnoxious.

Cromlech posted:edit: is anyone actually excited for this? Not at all. It will probably be another MvC3 for me where I don't give a poo poo about it until they announce a character I want to play as (Sent in MvC3) which would be Urien in this case and it probably won't happen. It will probably be awful anyway. Anyway back to AE, I'm having such a hard time transitioning from a defensive style to offensive since I'm playing Yun now.

Before the hack it updated around 9-10 and at one point I remember it not updating until Wednesday. It would probably be in Sony's best interest though to make it around 7PM what with the hack problems. EDIT: poo poo, I showed up to the interview late what did Ono already say?

Ono just announced that the combo system in SF x T is going to be something closer to Darkstalkers than SF, something like being able to do short-short-medium-heavy and have it all connect, sounds likes it's not going to be your standard SF links.

Some characters that didn't make the cut for SSF4 are going to be in SF x Tekken. I hope you guys are ready to play as Elena. Also, Ono confirmed that there would 15-20 characters on both sides.

That sounds awesome. Maybe we can hope for a cameo from both side's other games, like a character from Darkstalkers and maybe one from Soul Calibur or something? Wouldn't serve much point but would be fun.
