My favourite folder: Benchmade Axis AFCK (BM806) Sadly discontinued, love the way it looks and the thumbhole open, it's a lot more comfortable than most spydercos I've tried because of the chamfered hole. Kinda too big for EDC, even for me. (shamelessly stolen from here, in Polish) I also have a Benchmade mini-grip (blue handle, satin plain edge) and Benchmade mini-barrage (satin plain edge) that I rotate for my EDC needs. Yes, I am a total Benchmade/Axis fanboi.

TANTO CONFESSIONS![]() I have a cold steel recon tanto I got in a closeout sale. It's silly but I like it. I wonder how many people have attempted to punch thru mild steel with it without a paracord loop keeping their hand secure

I'm guessing no spring assist folders and maybe a size limit? Assisted opens are legal but it's one of those things where you are at the mercy of the guy doing the inspection. As for size limit there are limits but it's only if you are out walking around with the blades concealed that they come into effect, iirc. If you're driving somewhere to camp you'll be fine with large fixed blades, machetes etc.

AFCKs rule, that's awesome they're making some more. Mine is fantastic. Such a nice shape in the hand, it's just a smidge too large for everyday carry for me though. Are they making mini-AFCKs this time around?

Is the Lansky sharpener system generally more "foolproof" than the spyderco sharpmaker? Turns out a coworker is into knives and that's what he was telling me and he makes sense in a lot of other things so I wanted a 2nd opinion on this one. Perhaps he'll lend it to me so I can try it and see.

Thanks guys, good info. I like my sharpmaker but I was thinking wow the lansky sounds way better from the way he was describing it and pointing out how I need to keep the knife vertical with the sharpmaker.Even though that's not all that hard. I've gotten nice results with the sharpmaker anyway so I should have never doubted it! The magnets + diamonds sounds cool though.

Tip: Liquidation warehouses are great places to get super inexpensive and yet decent pry tools. I've demolished most of the downstairs of my house to get it ready for re-finishing with nothing but a $3 prybar. Also a good mask with filtration..
