Man it's amazing how many episodes of MST3K are on Netflix instant. And infuriating how small a selection shows up when you search for MST3K on the PS3 Netflix app.

Go on a computer and dump them all in your instant queue. Then you can find and watch them all on the PS3.

Ahahahaha oh god I forgot about that gently caress up at the end with the watch.

I love all the times they are just kind of humming "bapadapadada" under their breath as one of the characters is walking around.

I'd put Track of the Moonbeast on there too, if only for Johnny Longbone and ...onions.

My favorite part of "Girl in Lovers Lane" is how they mishear the main characters name and spend the rest of the movie calling him "Big Stupid."

My favorite part is Crow's Jack Elam:

Explains why I can never get through them. I remember trying to watch an episode and there was like a 10 second gap between jokes sometimes.

Some of the Season 1 episodes aren't too bad. I watched Robot versus Aztec Mummy and Mad Monster back to back and they had some good riffs in them. The main problems I have is their delivery tends to be REALLY deadpan early on, and Tom Servo's original voice bugs the poo poo out of me (even if John Weinstein's jokes are pretty good). It always sounds like he has a bad cold or something.

Going back to hidden Season 1 gold for a minute. During the Commander Cody serial:

Crow: Hey, how come Ted's so big and Commander Cody is so small?
Joel: Oh, that's a common movie device called foreshortening.
Crow: Oh!
Joel: Yeah, they use it all the time.
Crow: Instead of butter.

which was funny enough on it's own, but then during The Crawling Hand, when the midget butler comes in:

Joel: Is it just me, or is he really small?
Crow: it's called foreshortening.

I love it. I wish the MST3K parts were mixed up a little over the song, but it still made me laugh.

Seemed for the best place for these questions:

1) Have either of the Colossal Man/Beast movies been collected on DVD yet?

2) I have recently been introduced to the Minnesotan term "Spendy", but I don't recall if it was ever used on MST3K. It seems like something they would use, but I can't confirm.

Don't ever recall hearing "spendy" from them. It could have been in there once or twice somewhere (especially when they are doing one of their Fargo-esque riffs, dontcha know), but it's not one of their commonly used colloquialisms as far as I can remember.

I know there's a rifftrax thread, but they just released Warriors of the Wasteland which is directed by the same fellow who directed Escape 2000 and made the same month year. Sadly the movie itself does not have the same je ne sais quoi as Escape 2000, but the riffing is pretty good.

Warriors of the Wasteland is pretty good, but I think Buffalo Rider (another recent release) is hilarious. Like on-par with the best MST3K episodes.

Are there any riffs in episodes you've seen so often that make you laugh every single time? For me it's when the fake bellboy guy throws himself out the window when Bart Fargo dodges, and Servo gives this quiet little "Ole!". Every loving time

Them making the sound of the old guy hitting a joint at the start of Mighty Jack kills me every time. It's just so over the top.

It's the rough cut of "It Lives By Night" -- the whole film minus the host segments. It's actually a really cool behind-the-scenes look at how they assembled the show.

Is that the only rough cut out there (aside from the one sequence from Diabolik)? It looks like the only one I can find on youtube, although from the Kevin Murphy interview it sounded like there might be other rough cut episodes floating around. It's really interesting to hear them joking around on the breaks.
