I follow a group on deviantArt. Some of it is very cool, unique works from talented artists. Some are hobby artists looking for critiques and ways to improve themselves. And the rest... well... It also seems to exist only to make the concept of feathered maniraptors so much harder to get people who aren't paleo-nerds on board with:  Now it isn't like there are no brightly colored birds out there. Indeed, they tend to get a lot of attention.  But you may have noticed that the fabulous brightly colored birds tend to not be the ones who have to sneak up on live prey animals for a living. They also tend to live high up in the trees of tropical forests where they actually are fairly well-camouflaged. And most important of all: they tend to be literally rare birds.  For every one gaudy species of Bird of Paradise, there are about two-dozen species of brown-with-gray-stripes, gray-with-brown-stripes, slightly-different-brown-with-darker-brown-stripes species of sparrow.  To be fair, the Sparkleraptor actually isn't a new thing. Take a look at very old dinosaur books. Almost across the board all the naked (and at the time assumed to be naked) dinosaurs are all the lovely shades of Crap Brown, Diarrhea Green, and Intestinal Distress Puce.  Meanwhile Archeopteryx, because she is the only animal with feathers around, is almost always reconstructed with bright flashy rainbow colors. Colors that, from a camouflage standpoint, make no sense at all in the otherwise lovely-colored environment she lives in.  Today we know of many more genre of feathered theropods. And we even know, through analyzing feather fossils, what color plumage some of them had.  Turns out Archaeopteryx and her relatives were likely similar in color to modern birds of prey: black-and-white patterns, brown-and-white patterns, brown-and-red patterns. Just recently Microraptor was determined to be something like a modern grackle with iridescent feathers that would be dark under cover and then "sparkly" in the sun. (Brace yourself, here comes another candidate for DA's Power Animal.)  In short, they were all pretty well camouflaged, which shouldn't really come to a surprise if you understand birds. Which, it turns out, a depressing number of people evidently don't. At all. ----- I also found this thing.  And this thing.  (Good, believable plumage colors but why would you do this WHY?!?) Rahonavis thanks for the explanation on the feathers thing  Now I remember that,when I was little, I used to color my awesome dinosaur-monsters, with badass fangs and claws and piercings,with very bright colors. But that was because I was imitating those old dinosaur books.And carnival rides that come to life? Wait, how about anthropomorphic carnival rides?!
