You have badly misspelled 'Louie'.

As the candy hearts poured into the fiery quasar, a wondrous thing happened, why not. They vaporized into a mystical love radiation that spread across the universe, destroying many, many planets, including two gangster planets and a cowboy world! But one planet was exactly the right distance to see the romantic rays but not be destroyed by them: Earth. So all over the world couples stood together in joy. And me, Zoidberg! And no one could have been happier unless it would have also been the season premiere of Louie. What? It was? Hooray!

That was a great episode, Fry's line "It sure was nice of the mayor's wife to have sex with me" made me crack up and then go "oh so I guess we're done with that then"? I liked Fry and Leela being together. I know the plot doesn't matter as long as the jokes are funny but I feel they haven't mined that plot for humor at all and The Late Philip J. Fry was my favourite episode of the last half season.

Primitive notions of modesty.

It's funny, for all the advanced scientific jokes and references on the show, that Fry Day joke that they're using on the commercials now makes me giggle like a squid on Tuesday.

So if I recall from the commentaries, wasn't an early plan to have Fry be a police officer? I also like that he's not totally incompetent at everything. I'm secretly hoping they're slowly going to work Fry to a Lars level of maturity. I think that story was fantastic and might be the best way they've expressed the Fry and Leela relationship.

Of course, that was the old Fry. He's dead now.

I really hope it wins. A lot of people were raving about the cornucopia of references in the latest episode, and "The Late Philip J. Fry" is another good example of that.

Also, does anyone feel the commentaries for this last season weren't that great? I enjoy geeking out to them, but it sounded like their heads were still spinning from being renewed again and not knowing if they would be yet again.

Still not as bad as "Cool your jets" from Time keeps on Slipping. That might be the weakest joke in the entire series. But yeah, when they overexplain a joke on this show, it stands out.

I like that joke only because John Dimaggio gets to do Bender babbling, which I consider the actual punch-line.

Leela works as a straight man because, while boring, she's still a very important character. For example, when she's called on to save Bender. And herself, I guess. And his banjo.

And Fry.

Really dire, I don't think I laughed once. Leela-centric episodes not involving Zapp tend not to be very good but this especially.

Also am I the only one who can't loving stand Tress Macneille's little kid voices?

By the same token I'm sick of Zapp just trying to screw Leela, so it balanced out a little.

Did you watch Rugrats? I can get over it but all my girlfriend hears is Phil and Lil when the orphans talk.

If the "secret" about her special writing place hadn't been obvious from the start or ended in a big twist this episode would have fit in better with the series, and that's my only big complaint. Bender was back to an enjoyable level again, that makes me feel happy!

Also Hermes dumping just rum into a blender was hilarious.

Tress didn't do the voices for Phil and Lil. That was Kath Soucie.

I think Tress Macneille get's an odd amount of flak. Yes her voices repeat themselves within the show, but that's because she is literally every female character on the show other than Amy, Amy's Mom and Leela. It's ridiculous how heavilly they lean on her. The male actors get spread out between the bit parts, while every time there's a woman on screen there is a 95% chance it's Macneille.

I've been as dumb as Fry.

I really hope Tress gets paid per voice. Though she isn't in the Planet Express crew unless Cubert tags along. Is she doing LaBarbara now? I know she did it once in the original run.

The on again/off again thing with Fry and Leela doesn't bother me. They are obviously just casually dating. The fact that Fry isn't constantly pining over her seems to make this clear.

Yeah, Fry knows that he may have to fight for her from time to time, but in the end they'll be together. Also, primitive notions of monogamy and so forth.

Awesome episode regardless.

My thoughts exactly, a lot of the action scenes in this one weren't animated very well and it's the only thing that took away from my baseline level of new Futurama episode enjoyment, which is full.

I've said for years that they've squandered opportunities to validate Zoidberg's actual medical knowledge by using Kif as a patient.

I liked it but if his dad would have mentioned commies in his little talk with Fry I think it would have kept him more in character and it might have fit at the end better than it did.

Oh, you 20th century dwellers who hate the on again/off again relationship. I suppose you'd rather Fry and Leela be like the managers of Romanticorp?

I do agree, however, that this episode had a beautiful ending but not the buildup it deserved. I think if there was a better developed reason for Leela to have doubts and try to start over then it would have worked fine.
