okay so

mila kunis has just been tricked into marrying a dude who is genetically her son, after which he is going to kill her because she owns earth and he really really wants earth in particular even though it's been explained that it's just one of thousands of planets that get harvested to make the special sauce that keeps aristocrats young, and the dude's brother wants to kill jupiter before she marries him because then he gets to keep earth because he's the oldest and he's determined that he will just harvest the earth immediately rather than give it up but instead now he's staging some convoluted plot involving jupiter's family back on earth and some krogan-looking motherfuckers, and then there's the sister and i can't even figure out what the hell she wants other than to continue getting the rejuvination goo (which, again, earth is by no means the only source of) and so they're fighting over jupiter, and channing tatum got tossed out an airlock which is apparently a completely assured death even though they let him keep his gravity boots and all the emergency spacesuits that he found in the airlock (spoiler: he lives), and sean bean is still trying to get back into the army because he misses his wings (like actual wings that he had on his back which they took away) and i guess his daughter is sick or something? so now he's working with channing tatum on a rescue mission along with the space police even though it looks like they're going in solo without the space police

and there's still like 40 minutes left!

whatever drugs the wachowskis were on when they came up with this plot, i want them

good news, channing tatum arrived just in time to object to the wedding, how original

tbf he objects by crashing a spaceship through the wall, but still

sean bean was also in a spaceship and he kind of just disappeared; i'm assuming he's dead but who knows

nope, sean bean turns up again and survives for the whole movie :aaaaa:

so, a good character arc, courtesy of jupiter ascending:

character has a job cleaning toilets, which she hates

character becomes the queen of space and outright owner of the earth and everything on it

character goes back to cleaning toilets, but now she enjoys it

amazing, just amazing. 11/10

NO

i just saw it in 3d. it added nothing, made the picture dim, made the action scenes choppy, and the way everything was hovering in its own plane made the whole movie look fake and CGId instead of the amazing visceral experience it was supposed to deliver

imax YES, 3d NO

alright so im watching the first episode of person of interest and its not bad so far

so im on episode 10 now. I dont think it really got any better after episode 6, the whole Elias thing just seems pretty blergh

i still like it, but thats because of michael emerson is great, and mr reese and carter are pretty good. episode 3, the army bank robbers, is probably the best one so far along with 6

some of the action is so over the top and i love it

the choppiness is from the director loving with the framerate scene to scene tho, I actually thought it was the first good 3d I've seen, but I don't have imax nearby

Don't do this, unless those seats are more than the approximately 3 feet from the screen at the theater i saw it in. Definitely sit close enough the screen fills your field of vision though!

Gonna see it again so i can see more than a third of the image.

plus it ruled, i'm seeing it again for that reason too.

starting to get a bit impatient with orphan black. it continues to be very well done, but it's starting to get that Lost-ish feel of "they really don't know what the long game is for this show, they're just adding more and more layers of convoluted mythology to justify continued running-back-and-forth-we-gotta-rescue-person-x plotlines"

i'm hoping it all snaps together soon and seems worth it, but i'm not overly optimistic

I'm like 3/4 of the way through the 2nd Uplift Trilogy book, and it's pretty cool. I don't really like how humanity seems to be just straight up smarter, more clever etc than other races but I guess on the other hand, like half the characters in these books so far have been godlike genetically engineer super agents or just extremely exceptional military starship officers. It IS cool how they are the Space Humanists semi-silently rebelling against the Space Serfdom traditions of the galactic empires, though.

startide rising is the peak of the series and the questions it raises are not answered in the next book or the three after

v frustrating imo
