Ridgely_Fan posted:i read all his books in college for a class (also went through some of the manuscripts and early drafts of them which was hella cool). nothing else he wrote was as good as catch-22, but 'god knows' was p good and underrated. 'something happened' was ok. wouldnt read anything else tho (esp 'closing time') For some reason i've read good as gold and something happened but not catch 22. I should remedy that I really liked Them both tho

gooby on rails posted:I can already tell VALIS is going to be a trip and a half from the way the narration switches from third to first person and back within the same paragraph and the way he can't seem to decide whether the main character is his creation or his alter ego or what Dick is kindof a bad writer but his ideas, stories and settings are good. At least I thought his prose was kinda bland at best. Also I guess I'll check out some Mieville. Thanks dudes.

nah but if they were biologically immortal and also had developed some kind of aphasia as a species they might only be able to talk in reference to events from their past but its sitll dumb like "that one time joe did the thing" = "lets go do that thing that joe did, also im too hosed up in the head to communicate it"
