It already has a pretty kickass soundtrack! ... because Rebecca "Burger" Heineman was lied to about the state the game was in when she was hired, had to do the entire thing in a month and a half, and convinced them to throw money at a recorded soundtrack so she just had to use the streaming audio functionality of the 3DO.

Have you ever come across any other of Carmack's musings about Jag-Doom, particularly anything he had to say about the multiplayer feature? I bought everything I needed for 2-player Jag-Doom years ago, but everytime I get stupid enough to get it all out and try it again the connection only holds up until E1M3 and then it just desyncs within a minute. Each of my Jaguars and Doom carts are solid on their own, so I think it's just the multiplayer function being lovely. The manual of Jag-Doom pretty much tells you to not get your hopes up about it.

From what I recall, the multiplayer was a super last-minute thing because Atari was slow about sending them hardware. Jag Wolf only happened because id couldn't hit the deadline Atari gave them for Doom so they gave them Wolf as a way to stall for more time. A little googling brought up these comments from 2000: http://floodyberry.com/carmack/slashdot.html#s20000302x143023

I wrote about it before, but the main plot point is that the villain has a device that basically moves continents around and his plan is to recreate Pangaia. Right now Steam has "Doom Classic Complete" for $14.99 that has DOOM II, Final DOOM, Master Levels for Doom II, Ultimate Doom.
