Why does everyone assume that Spider-Man is going to do badly/Dark Knight Rises will do good just because they're being released close together? It seems realistic enough that they'd both do quite well, even if they both end up being lovely movies.

Yeah, the Spider-Man movies have always made bank. Switching over to Captain America talk, the effect they used for pre-Super Soldier Serum Rogers looks surprisingly good. That must have been crazy difficult to work with.

Now that we're barely a week away from Harry Potter, has there been any more talk or confirmation that it will have the first teaser for The Dark Knight Rises?

Most of the time, when I see more posts in this thread, I immediately check to see if they're about The Dark Knight Rises updates. I'm usually disappointed. I'm having some difficulty being sold on the new Spiderman and Superman. I saw all three of the previous Spiderman movies on opening night, so it's not that I lack enthusiasm about the francise. I just can't quite hop on the prequel bandwagon. I know this has been brought up before, but would it really have been that terrible to just call it Spiderman 4, and move forward with the Lizardman/some other villian plot? Moving away from the previous three movies, even though they were by no means perfect, just seems odd to me. Conversely, I hope to god the new Superman is nothing like the last abomination I had to sit through. It takes a lot to make me hate Kevin Spacey.

The best part of Superman Returns was when it was over. I can barely remember seeing that movie, it was just so boring.

From ComingSoon.net http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=79604 quote:SuperHeroHype reports that the teaser trailer and teaser poster for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises is set to hit theaters with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 next week! They are hearing that the teaser trailer is a minute and 33 seconds long and will play in 3D theaters, 2D theaters and IMAX 3D screens. So hopefully it's a bit more than a logo and some dialog like the teaser for TDK. EDIT: For reference, TDK teaser was 55 seconds long. http://youtu.be/fkSXenghZzQ Wazzit fucked around with this message at Jul 8, 2011 around 22:03 |

When the first wing snaps the camera focuses on superman/the wing and in the 5 seconds that short pause before he bolts towards the plane all you see is a plume of smoke and the plane waaaaaaaaaaay below already. Here's the scene

"Some people just want to watch the world burn" was intriguing in a perfect sort of way, especially after all the talk about escalation. Joker laughing at the end was a welcome treat, to be sure.

Kevin Spacey going absolutely batshit in that role is such a shame because now he can't be Luthor in a good Superman movie.

Here's an interesting bit of Captain America news, foreign distributors were given the option of either using Captain America as the movie title or switching it to simply The First Avenger. Distributors in only three countries decided to go with the alternate name, Russia, Ukraine and South Korea. China hasn't decided whether or not the movie will be one of the few foreign releases allowed this year so no word on what they'd do.

Superman Returns was pretty awful, but I maintain that the first 40 minutes are really good. If you just shut it off after that, it's not as bad. Also, the title of Cap changing in a few foreign countries doesn't really bother me... Mostly because I don't live there or care about that.
