Somewhat related (since it was also a well regarded comic at one point), they continue to cast for the next GI Joe movie:

http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/07/...g-i-joe-sequel/

I think Tatum is the only returning person from the original. So far the Joes include Duke, The Rock as Roadblock and now Palicki as Lady Jaye.

Thankfully there are enough Joes that the rotating cast should work well enough.

First trailer for next year's John Carter (of Mars) from Disney:

http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/disney/johncarter/

(Hey, there were some John Carter comics at one point)

This is the first in a trilogy (Disney hopes) of movies based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series.

Andrew Stanton who was behind Wall-E is directing. Stanton has mentioned having to drop some of the series elements which wouldn't really translate, like telepathy and near nudity, but the trailer seems to show a fairly faithful adaption.

Cap's an all around guy. Tactical smarts, agility and some brawn. He's also worthy enough to lift Mjolnir, so he's an inspirational good guy.

Stark/Ironman - Super smarts, flying, tech based goodies
Banner/Hulk - Super smarts, brawn
Hawkeye - Skill
Black Widow - Agility, espionage
Captain America - Agility, skill, tactics, some brawn, inspirational
Thor - Brawn, flying

Disney has announced two as of yet untitled Marvel Studios films for the summer of 2014. Let the speculation begin...

I hope Marvel goes forward with the rumored idea to start showing 5-6 minute one-shot previews before their movies with other new characters to gauge interest in new franchises.

They could also use that as a vehicle to re-launch Blade with Snipes. Shoot a new 5-6 minute short of Blade kicking rear end, and see if there's an audience for another movie.

There might be a problem, considering that Snipes is somewhat indisposed until July 2013.

I'm aware of that. It wouldn't take long to shoot a short versus awhole movie. They could film and get it out to a film which hits later in 2013.

So the kid's name in Ghost Rider is apparently Danny. Is he supposed to be Danny Ketch? If so, I guess we could get a time jump movie at some point where he could be the new lead.

Spoiler details from the EW issue via io9 and Loki spoilers from TotalFilm. I'll just spoiler post them here since the page they're on contains a lot of spoilers for other films:

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly features a very detailed set report, and here are the highlights. EW visited during the filming of the "climactic battle, an assault led by Thor's villainous brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who's planning to make Earth his new kingdom after being expelled from their family's celestial realm." And it actually confirms that Loki "has enlisted an otherworldly army to aid his conquest," though not the identity of the aliens.

At one point during this sequence, Iron Man is injured and Thor and Captain America go to his rescue, and Iron Man wakes up and asks "What's next?" Although Whedon and Downey Jr. improvised a few versions of that exchange, including one where Iron Man asks, "What happened? Please tell me nobody tried to kiss me." Also, they have to check Iron Man's pulse, which is difficult with his armor on - so they check his chest for breathing. And in that scene the Hulk is stomping in the background, after having just caught Iron Man "in his fall from the skies." Iron Man "actually enjoys setting off the Hulk, to the dismay of his team-mates." Meanwhile, Thor "struggles with tact around those he considers inferior (which is everyone)."

EW also has a bunch of quotes from the actors. Let's start with Marc Ruffalo explaining how Bruce Banner fits into the team:

"He's the most – guy, but a total loose cannon. No one wants to set him off except for Iron Man... who just wants to see him pop. It's funny, there's a really cool dynamic between Tony Stark and Banner. Banner actually enjoys it, and finds it really refreshing. They're a lot alike in a strange way. They're both these kind of scientists who are mavericks, kind of renegades. Banner, for all his mild-mannered mythology, he's still the dude who was testing some pretty crazy s–t on himself, so he has that rebel streak in him."

Jeremy Renner also notes that Hawkeye is the only hero who can really control the Hulk, because he has special tranquilizer-tipped arrows. He also says that Hawkeye and Black Widow, as the only completely normal humans on the team, have a history and bond that predates the movie.

Also, Chris Hemsworth confirms that Loki's status as the villain gives this an added dimension for Thor:

"I think [Thor's] motivation is much more of a personal one, in the sense that it's his brother that is stirring things up. Whereas everyone else, it's some bad guy who they've gotta take down. It's a different approach for me, or for Thor. He's constantly having to battle the greater good and what he should do vs. … it's his little brother there. I've been frustrated with my brothers at times, or family, but I'm the only one who is allowed to be angry at them. There's a bit of that."

There's a ton more at the link. [EW]

Tom Hiddleston promises that we will see Loki fight every superhero, and he also reveals which is the toughest:

"The fun thing about Loki is that he goes 1-on-1 with every single Avenger. Loki has become so menacing that they all have to team up and overcome their differences to stop him. I think I can dismiss the mere mortals, so Captain America may be a super soldier but he's still a man and he's up against Loki, who's a God. I think Iron Man's blasters hurt a bit...But I think it comes down to his thunderous brother. No one is harder to fight than his brother because there's all that angst within him. Thor still comes out on top."

The good thing about the series is the sheer wealth of characters, at least on the hero side, which can be added in later movies when cast members don't return. Even now there are still quite a few well known main bad guys who haven't been used.

Tomax and Xamot as two Winklevoss-esque power broker Wall Street types seems like an easy play for a third movie if it ever happens.

There was some tweet a few weeks ago from a low rent actor about playing the part of a vampire in the Avengers post-credit scene. Which doesn't sound right, but maybe it was just one of the character based shorts Marvel has discussed about showing before their movies. Could have been bull poo poo, but Marvel did just get the rights to Blade back. So maybe they've recast the part since Snipes is in prison. I'm not really sure off hand what properties Marvel Studios have which could feature vampires, outside of maybe Doctor Strange and feasibly Moon Knight maybe (if they expand him into more generic supernatural)?

Both properties seem like possibilities though even if that vamp thing is BS.

I really doubt it's true. Why would they be hyping Blade or any other thing that could involve vampires after the Avengers?
I just updated my post with a bit of clarification. That's the thing, it doesn't make sense, but at one point Marvel was talking about doing the mini-shorts with their movies to hype new properties. I believe it was originally brought up in regards to Luke Cage.

I thought the "Untold Story" might just be marketing trying to do their part to make it seem like this movie fits into the previous three movies somehow. It doesn't of course, but it might help stave off the normal viewing audience from reacting poorly to a reboot so soon. So it comes off more like the last X-Men movie, and not something brand new.

I really got that sense from the trailer. Would it work to kill off Bale's Batman at the end of the movie? Sacrifices himself for Gotham to stop Bane? I think it could work. It would certainly tie up the trilogy.

James Badge Dale is good. Never heard of Savin before, but it seems like it would fit in with the story they're using. Assuming it's the same Savin.

Even if somehow the planets aligned and Sony decided to work with Disney to put one of their characters into a different loving studio's movie, how do you explain the problem of Spider-Man being shown as a unique case of someone with super powers in the new movie, and the events of the Avengers leading to half of New York getting blown up with thousands dead?

Set Spider-man the day before the NYC thing. Even before then I'm not sure Ironman was regarded as a powers guy. Though I guess there's the Hulk thing too.

If there was any crossover, I'd like to see it be through Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Introduce them into the Avengers series and feature a flashback of Ian Mckellen as dear old dad for major fun.
