What they really need is Hugh Jackman just chilling out in the background of a scene or two, chomping on a cigar.

If they don't say he's Wolverine they can't get in trouble, right? Right?

Yeah, but I wonder if using any names or specific likenesses tied into the X-Men film properties would be a problem. If you just have Hugh Jackman standing in as "A Guy," then that can't cause any problems, can it?

Of course this is all moot since we all know this isn't happening and this movie will loving SUCK because of it.

EDIT: Is it ever clearly explained how far removed that last scene in Hulk is from the rest of the movie? Stark could've found Ross in that bar weeks after the events of the movie occurred.

That's why I said it finished last. The ending of the movie is the latest point in the timeline out of the movies so far, unless they specify otherwise. But at that point, Tony's on board as part of the Avengers Initiative, which doesn't happen until after the events of Iron Man 2.

We know what comes before what and what happens during what. That's all we really need to know. The only unknown is when the after-credits scene in Thor would take place, but right now that's non-essential and will be locked down once Captain America and Avengers come out. Everything fits into place.

Well let's be fair here. I'm not INTENTIONALLY provoking anyone here. I will apologize for my reply to Toot Boot, because the tone didn't come out how I meant it to and ended up being more snarky than it should have, so I can see how that would incite more hostile comments.

Any other posts I made? Only if you connect them to the accidental tone of the aforementioned post and just decided I was being an rear end in a top hat regardless of what I was actually saying. I don't like how Bane looks. I didn't like The Joker. If those opinions cause someone to make hostile responses, that's on them.

I'll try to wrangle this all in now. I'm pretty negative on Nolan's take on Batman after I ended up disliking The Dark Knight, and nothing leading up to Dark Knight Rises has changed that. Looking at that picture of Bane, as I said, it looks more like a guy in a Saw movie than a Bane concept to me. Mabe in the context of the film, all that poo poo on his face will make more sense, but it's not doing anything for me at all from the teaser.

People make defenses that it's no more ridiculous than Scarecrow, or that we should have faith after what Nolan did with The Joker. My responses to those are; It is more ridiculous than Scarecrow, and I didn't like The Joker.

I look at Scarecrow from the Batman Begins trailer;

I see an intensely creepy villain. Piercing eyes staring through a worn, dirty burlap sack, shoddily sewn together with bits of straw sticking out. It's got a lot of character to me and intrigues me, and makes me think the character is going to be really loving cool (and he was). I don't see that with Bane.

I liked Joker's look too, for the most part. His look wasn't the problem. Heath Ledger wasn't really the problem. Posting a picture of The Joker or bringing up a posthumous Oscar doesn't nullify a complaint. I just didn't like the adaptation of the character and what he did throughout the movie, so I feel continuing to this thread of discussion as if it pretains to my thoughts on Bane's look just doesn't make much sense.

I watched the episodes of the Avengers cartoon they had up on Netflix, and I was surprised how good they were. It's not the best cartoon ever (that would be Gargoyles), but it does a great job of bringing about this whole universe and interweaving all these things going on, like the movie are trying to do.

It also does a good job of portraying the variety of characters in a way that they all manage to work on the same level, meaning having non-powered people like Hawkeye feel right at home with technological-aided people like Iron Man, and none are outshone by god-like beings like Thor. Same goes for the villains.

I mention all this because of the movies. It gives me a lot of hope that a continued "shared universe" series of Marvel films could continue to be really interesting and fun, especially if and when they get into things like space aliens and magic. But when it comes to Captain America, I'm concerned they might have closed the book on his adventures too quickly.

I loved the movie, but after seeing some of his other enemies who return in present day in the cartoon (none of which are Red Skull, so far) and keeping the "big picture" thing in mind, it feels like a missed opportunity to have not explored further with Captain America in the 40's facing these enemies and HYDRA's experiments. I guess we'll see what happens, but I just wanted to share those thoughts.

Also that theme song gets kind of stuck in your head.

Theme song is not stuck in my head, because it is godawful and I skipped the intro every time after the first episode.

I wasn't really trying to get into a discussion over the cartoon, but more trying to discuss how the cartoon shows that a continued series of movies that expand into different areas could work really well, but I also have some concerns over some "missed opportunities." I do hope they manage to bring about certain HYDRA enemies, even if Captain America didn't encounter them in the past. In the cartoon, they are pretty much the driving force behind most of HYDRA's activities and there's no Red Skull in the present yet.

I'm very, very surprised they haven't brought Agent Coulson into the comics yet, like DC did with Harley Quinn. Then again, I'm also surprised that they invented a new character for the movies when any number of SHIELD agents from the comics could have done the exact same thing he does.

Iron Man was a very isolated film that very slowly built up and teased the bigger picture, so it was essential to have a new character that nobody would recognize going around through the whole movie. So then at the end when he simplifies his department name to SHEILD and it clicks in your head, and then Fury shows up after the credits and it's all "OH YEAH THIS IS JUST THE START OF SOMETHING BIGGER BITCHES!" and it all just works perfectly that way.

And I think that's why Coulson ended up being such a great character. He's a very understated guy who nonchalantly brings to the audience's attention all the awesome poo poo.
