Episode ten will be Jon finally arriving by boat to the Wildlings, where Tormund magically reveals himself as the magically transformed Mance, and we won't see Jon stabbed for another season, rendering the "Kill the Boy" scene this season completely moot.

What was even the loving point of Asha/Yara's one scene last season anyways? The season 3 finale made a huge deal out of her going on the mission and then her entire screentime is about five minutes and changes nothing.

Last episode of the season is apparently called Mother's Mercy. So is Lady Stoneheart gonna show up and yell at Brienne for spending an entire season sitting on a hill instead of helping Sansa?

That arena scene looked worse than Attack of the Clones did thirteen loving years ago. But at least it brought with it a promise that we will still get dysentery Dany.

So, sand snakes doing the foot shuffle or dany trotting around the stadium on drogon for dumbest scene of the season.

One thing I did notice about the arena scene is just how loving awful the fight choreography is for the westerosi. All that spinning and twirling and jorah got his loving rear end kd because of it. How is it that Vikings is the only show that seems to come remotely close to showing how sword fighting actually worked? A show whbody builders wear biker gear instead of chainmail is more authentic than attack of the clones gladiator thrones.

It's funny how the Dorne scene in the episode entirely nullified absolutely everything about the Dorne plot in five minutes flat and put us right back at square one. This is like the Craster's Keep plot from last season except that it was stretched over a half dozen episodes rather than two, and still accomplishes nothing.

Yeah while I like most of the changes they have made, they have also somehow made Dorne more pointless.

At least this was the "best" Dornish scene, though I use that term loosely. I had a big laugh when Doran said "Your Rebellion is over!" What, their rebellion of a scuffle in the garden?

Am I misremembering, or were the Sand Snakes in the books all from different mothers? Cus the show treats them like they're all Ellaria's daughters, even though half of them apparently don't exist in the show world.

I'm reading through acok and it really made me wonder how the hell season 5 stannis got so hosed over for the adaptation. In the books, I don't really get the sense that stannis is that big a believer in the red god, and he just uses mel and her magic because its a tool he needs. But in the show stannis is a nearly crazy fire cultist, and it feels like they just did a note for note repeat of robb stark's downfall, complete with the unnecessary sacrifice/execution causing half the army to desert.

No part but I think it's pretty obvious from those paragraphs that Varys and Illyrio don't give two shits about Dany and Viserys by the time of AGOT,

The "girl of fourteen" mentioned in that passage refers to Margery, not Dany.

emanresu tnuocca posted:

Uhm quite obviously yes, Dany is the princess they're referring to.

The paragraph is pretty straightforward I don't know why you think I misread it. I'm saying that they don't give a poo poo about Dany and Viserys that's why they sent them on a fool's errand with Drogo's khalasar and that's why Varys sends an assassin to kill Dany at Robert's behest, something he wouldn't do if Dany was some critical element of his long-term plans, instead we understand that by that point in time Dany being dead or alive is of equal consequence to them, they just want Drogo to invade Westeros asap, the last targaryens coming alongside him seems less important.

I think you might have quoted the wrong paragraph then, because what you put up makes no mention whatsoever of Dany or the Dothraki. It is Illyrio and Varys talking about how Ned's an idiot, Stannis and Lysa are causing trouble and Loras is sending Margery to court.

Jon's execution in the book made sense, because he broke his vows. Show Jon got killed because the Night's Watch is full of dicks, not because of any actual crime against their code. gently caress, even show Davos reinforces the notion that the Watch is a shield for mankind, which includes the Free Folk.

There's an episode of Buffy in Season 5 where they show a quartet of vampires amidst the chaos of a Chinese Revolution around the turn of the 20th Century, it involves two sets-- an inner temple and just outside that temple--and it manages to convey a sense of scale I never got from GoT showing a fleet of ships attacking a city bay amidst green napalm. That's not even anger-provoking... it's just sad.

Ironic considering the enormous loving budget the show is running on. HBO can and has made large scale action sequences. Band of Brothers and The Pacific can attest to that. But then they also had Tom Hanks and Spielberg there to actually produce the shows as well.

Every battle scene in the show looks like Monty Python, that's just a consequence of having a TV budget. The best parts of Blackwater were the Cersei scenes inside.

Except that Game of Thrones has a ludicrous TV budget that gets wasted on stuff we never see on screen. Only The Pacific (20million per episode) and Rome (9 million per episode) cost more for HBO, and those were miniseries and a two season only thing.
