Going from the info bits in the op, I believe it says that the Priest has the longest range. Not sure if its true, thought.

Wand wielding classes seem to have the longest range. Staff falls a tad behind that - if you off center the view you seem to pretty much exactly hit the top border.

Archer is fantastic for mowing down crowds and helping to keep rushing monsters off your train's back. But for that you need one of the better bows. I would not recommend playing archer until you at least have a double-bow. Thats when the fun starts imo.

I've only played a couple days, but either save it or trade and save the gear. Don't be too tempted to put your good stuff on a lowbie character that will more than likely die. Keep saving up until you can rock your gear.

If you go the trading route, WATCH OUT FOR SCAMS. I was trying to sell T10 staves earlier and got offered an HP max+ potion for it, which would normally be a good deal, except the other guy deselected the potion and tried to accept the trade, hoping I wouldn't notice. Make sure that all the items being traded are highlighted in yellow, since it would really suck to lose those potions or items you worked hard to get.

I saw my friend there out on the field today, I asked him where he's going, he said "All the way."

I have a level 20 warrior now with 32 defence and a sword that does 180ish damage. Im scared he will die because he seems prett decent for only playing for a few hours (lucky drops/gifts helped)

Im trying to level a rogue to 20 now and see how fun that can be. Also I have found the armour classes easier to level because they dont die so easily. I tried Knight and I died due to my own stupidity, I teleported to a group of level 20s killing a high level god who 4 shotted me before I could get away.

Also, I hate you guys for brining this game to my attention!

Oh man. This game sure is fun. I mean, I already though it was. Then I joined up with MadGoons, and got on teamspeak last night, and realized that this is how the game is meant to be played. 4.5 hours melted away and I hardly noticed when it was 3 hours after my bedtime. Me and Revanchisr killed pretty much everything while he was giving me the rundown on trading and other aspects of the game, other goons were popping into our party constantly and everyone was levelling rapidly. I hit level 20 a couple times, and managed to finally get a character to live long enough to complete the 2nd class quest (yay, necromancers) so I spent 18c on a orange hat in celebration. It seems equipment management is key to getting a powerful character. Stash your good off class gear and your potions, and use them to barter yourself into more powerful gear. Plan ahead for your next death, and get yourself some mid-tier equipment to stash in your chest for your next run and you'll start out nearly as strong as a badly equipped lv 20 character. Other goons should be able to help you get stuff, too - due to limited storage space, people can't really horde all their loot, so giving it away to fellow goons should be very common. The most powerful gear you're likely to find before you hit lv 20 is mostly trash so if we've got it, we're probably only carrying it to give it away. Anyway, my point is that communication makes the game better, and sharing stuff makes the game and your characters better. Join the guild, join ts, join the fun.

Also, tehsid, I know it's a little late and you appear to have left, but I should be wandering around US East 3 a little this morning so I can shoot you an invite. If I'm not around, I should be at my computer anyway, so if you just send me a message on Steam I'll get you in. Probably throw some crap gear at you, too.

Ok so I know you need to be in a certain range to get credit for a kill and with bosses you need to do x% damage to get a drop. So do you still get a drop if you nuke and have to make a tactical retreat of, say, a screen away and then the boss dies?

Pff, that's nothing. Back when you could grave loot, once a level 20 died near Oryx a dozen of lower levels would follow trying to get his items.

That was awesome. . Also, as I've done yesterday, I'll try to be handing out decent gear to you guys. Nothing great, just Tier 7-8 I find to try to help.

You missed the halcyon days where when someone died, you could go loot their items off their corpse. Which means when someone dropped on Oryx, there would be a mad rush up to try and score some items which would always result in several more people dying as the comedy cycle continued.

They really should add a single random item drop for death back in. It wouldn't have a huge bloating impact on the item economy, but it would keep the comedy potential of watching a whole train of people taking on a god getting murdered as they try and loot poo poo off each other.

I gave this game a try on lark, and I've already lost 13 hours to it. I'm still stuck on the 'get a good character going, get oneshotted by something' phase of the game. And for whatever reason I'm a hell of a lot better killing gods solo than with a big group.

But what I dislike about the fact that there's no more grave looting is that since they've added the Guild, you'd think you'd be able to pick up your guild mates items to give them back to him but.. you can't. As an example, last night a few goons and myself in the guild decided to try Oceans Treanch. We were.. what, 4-5? Anyways, we pretty much kept falling one after the other and once we got to the boss there was only me and another person left. I went in, almost died but had time to warp to Nexus.

In that paragraph, what I basicaly wanted to say is that I would've liked to loot the dead goons bodies to give them their items back.

Necromancers can heal for more than priests while doing good damage in a lot of situations, but if you really want to play a support role then pick up a warrior. The haste buff they give is really powerful and makes downing difficult bosses during a vulnerability phase a lot easier!

One of my favourite things to do in this game is to amass a bunch of high level gear and randomly give them out to early level players.

Responses range from "thank you!" to incredible paranoia.

Also, if I wanted into the goon guild which name do I give? My account name: Red Mundus or my character name: Mundus?

If this character dies do I need to be re-invited? Never really looked into guilds so I have no idea how they work.

I've played all the classes to 20, here's a mini guide on what makes each class distinct to help you pick one if you're not sure.
  • Wizard
Blows poo poo up like you wouldn't believe. Hands down the best AoE and single target burst damage with special and high ranged damage to boot.

  • Rogue
Can turn invisible and once you get a specific rare item, planeswalker cloak, they can teleport. The rogue can teleport behind bosses and unload a crapload of damage while invisible without risking return fire.

  • Warrior
Can inspire a frenzy with his special, a massive group speed and damage boost. Invaluable for difficult bosses, amplifies the group's damage astronomically. High health.

  • Knight
Can reach insane levels of defense (max defense is double any other class) and has naturally high health, allowing him to literally stand in harms way and shrug off attacks that would maim other classes. Has a very useful stun special.

  • Archer
Good range, high speed, and high health make this one of the best classes for soloing. His special roots bosses in place, which is actually very useful in groups because it means pretty much no attacks are going to miss for a few seconds.

  • Necromancer
Strong ranged damage output and also a very strong life drain special that will heal for more than a priest in AoE situations. His ability to self heal while doing damage also makes this a strong solo class.

  • Paladin
Special provides damage buff and high health regen, important to have at least one for groups doing hard dungeons but not great otherwise.

  • Mystic
Has the best CC in the game, able to put groups of enemies into "stasis" for a long time where they don't move or attack but also don't take any damage. Weak class otherwise.

At least when I played through all the classes a few months ago, assassin/hunter/trickster/sorcerer all kind of suck and don't provide anything super great or useful to a group. They're still perfectly playable, just not as good as the classes listed above in my opinion.
