Okay, first truly annoying bug or change spotted. Finder now seems to treat symlinks as aliases, which makes the traditional Dropbox symlink method less functional in terms of browsing via list or column views. It still synchronises okay, which is the most important thing, I guess. Edit: Second one found - the 'file open' mini-browser now no longer supports drag and drop to choose a file. If you drag a file and release it over the 'file open' thing, it now moves that file into the visible folder. Not copy, move, even between drives. I hope these just minor bugs due to some other odd changes, not changes in approach. Additional Edit: Seems you can now have different wallpaper settings per space. I have an early 2011 MBP still running Snow Leopard, and I'm debating whether or not to upgrade to Lion. I use the laptop mainly for DJing, minor on-the-go music production tasks (for when I don't have access to my desktop), and programming (web dev with rails, browser extensions, phone apps). Looking at the list of changes, it seems like most of them are related to either the Apple apps or integration with other Apple products, both of which don't really affect me (I use Google for email/calendar/contacts, Android for phone and e-reader/tablet, and Windows for my desktop and HTPC/media server). The Preview and Terminal upgrades look nice, and it seems like usability may have been improved a bit (new gestures, mission control), but I've also read about some folks downgrading back to Snow Leopard after trying out Lion. I think I'm okay in terms of Lion app compatibility (Traktor and Ableton), and I don't have anything that requires Rosetta, but are there any other issues I might run into (e.g. I've heard samba doesn't work as well on Lion)? Any compelling reasons for or against upgrading?

Is there a way to make it so that all programs in lion stop reopening whatever I had open when I reopen it? It's annoying as hell for what I normally do.

Eventually you're going to start getting hosed on software updates. 2/3 of my machines are still running SL, it wouldn't kill me to switch but I probably won't bother until I -have- to for some reason.

While I agree that it would be trivial to implement, you lose 99% of the functionality of the address bar (omnibar in the new version) by not keeping a history. You're missing out on the experience because you're a weirdo who doesn't want his girlfriend to see he has an OKCupid account.

If you add a keyboard shortcut to toggle private browsing it has no confirmation and minimal effort. 1Password or similar takes care of logging in. Or like I said, a five minute job in Automator to delete ~/Library/Safari/History.plist and ~/Library/Safari/HistoryIndex.sk It's not really being defensive, it's just highlighting that you're an edge case.

Is there any way to get my MacBook Air to prefer the 5 GHz spectrum for my AEBS? My network is the dual-band "fishpond" in the shots below:  As you can see, 5 GHz is a lot less crowded. My assumption is that because the 2.4 GHz band is showing higher signal strength that OS X is preferring that, but I'd like the higher data rates and less interference associated with 5 GHz.   Should I just cave and give the 5 GHz network a different name?

I don't think there's a reason not to segregate SSIDs, except that I think it might keep you from running a guest network, which I never cared for much anyway. Also it cuts off the end of my clever SSID  But back when my network layout consisted of wireless going out to two different bridges that did a lot of video streaming, it made a huuuuuge difference.

What can I use to mass-rename video files with the proper episode titles after the fact? Or is there some Handbrake plugin that will let me encode DVDs with proper titles? Ideally I'd love something I can just drag my Futurama folder into and it would rename all the episodes based on IMDB or some other online resource.

When using multiple monitors, does Lion still blank all other displays when using a full screen app? If so, has Apple addressed this and mentioned if there's a fix in the works? Has it been fixed in the Mountain Lion preview?

Mountain Lion Preview 1 behaves exactly like Lion in this respect, unfortunately.

Also don't forget BetterTouchTool's Aero snap clone features. Drag on a window, bring your cursor to the top of the screen and release to maximize, or drag to the left or right edge to fill up half the screen.
