A few months back it seemed like This song was playing pretty much everywhere in Japan. It's the ending theme for a show called Marumo no Okite. It's about a bumbling office worker who adopts his dead friend's twin children. It's mostly a comedy, but has some pretty tragic stuff happening every so often. Oh and they also have a talking dog for some reason. In the end it's a show that could have been a serious look at kids dealing with the loss of their parents, a comedy about someone having to face responsibility, or a talking animal family show. Instead it tries to all three and you get this sort of emotional whiplash, but it's worth watching if you're looking for something different.

SpazmasterX posted:Constant repetition. If it's one of those children's shows that's constantly rerun, little kids will watch it. When those credits come one, you can bet each child is on his or her feet and dancing along. The funny thing is that I've never met another person who's actually seen the show. It's not really a kid's show but the little girl became an overnight child star. I think it's just on the radio a lot and you'd always hear it playing in malls and things. I'm actually not sure how they all memorized the dance either.

I watched the first chunk of it but my Japanese isn't really good enough to follow along with no subs and I think my girlfriend was getting annoyed that I kept leaning over to ask "What'd that guy say? What did that guy say while I was talking?"

Its culprits committed murder for some of the stupidest reasons I have ever seen on television, and considering the precedent established by shows such as Law & Order and CSI, that's saying something. I get what you're trying to say but this just makes me want to watch it more now.

Does anyone remember a Japanese show they used to have on Spike? It was a variety type show where the hosts would introduce a myth busters style situation and everyone would guess what will happen. They had a lot of cool stuff but it didn't last long at all. There was a similar show that focused more on human challenges and this wasn't it. The one I want had more like science facts and things. The example I remember best was when they showed that a normal rubber band could fly X meters when stretched and released. Then they used tractors to stretch a 30 meter rubber band to see the distance would also increase by the same scale. (it didn't)

I've been watching a lot of Kagi no Kakatta Heya lately. It's a murder mystery show where every murder is a "locked room" case where it seems like it should be impossible for the person to exit the room after committing the murder. It's interesting in that most of the time it's pretty obvious who the murderer is, but the trick is figuring out how they managed to pull it off. So far the techniques have ranged from smart and interesting to really stupid. (One involves the murder of a collector of rare spiders. The murderer knocks out a venomous spider and puts it inside the body of a larger, but harmless spider. Then the victim got bitten and didn't seek medical attention since he didn't know it was deadly But most of the time they follow good logic and it's fun watching the characters suggest crazy ways the murder could have been committed.

I thought the timing on the video was good. I didn't have any trouble keeping up. My Japanese isn't really good enough to catch the subtleties of the language. I was only getting tipped off by the occasional "-maus, or san." Best part was that cafe. I've seen places like that in Canada but I'm actually kind of surprised that they even exist in Japan.

A friend recommended me "Legal High." It's basically Dr. House if he were a lawyer, or Phoenix Wright if he were an rear end in a top hat. It's pretty good overall, but it's worth watching just for the last episode. It's without a doubt the best ending to a series that I've ever seen in anything.

Something always seems to be lost in the process. Wipe out really has nothing on MXC. And the American version of Don't Laugh Library is awful.

The US version is dumb because it's all just timed. The stupid contestants will spend 2 minutes slowly going across the punch wall before getting knocked into the water, when they can just jump in and wade across in like 30 seconds anyway.

JerseyMonkey posted:Watching through the Nasubi episodes are really interesting but also quite eerie. You can see how thin he is and his voice is a little raspy at times. Also, when he gets food, his eyes roll back and give off an odd look. I am really shocked they got away with this show. I'm assuming he could leave if he really wanted to. They must be giving him some food since he'd presumably have to wait at least a few weeks until the first package came. If he got really desperate he could just call every takeout place in Tokyo and steal from the delivery guy. There must have been a lot of communication that we don't see. I'm assuming he had an apartment, a job, family etc and didn't just disappear until the show aired. The best part really is watching him re purpose stuff to get by. I was hoping to see him take apart the bicycle to make cooking tools or something.

Isn't the whole point of a torrent that the initial uploader doesn't have to do that much?
