I want to make it clear that I, in all sincerity, believe there is a great deal of truth in what Homeless Snail said here. I agree with this completely. I unironically think he is a genius.

ConanTheLibrarian posted:He is making a bad game that will not be fun to play unless, like him, you are loving obsessed with parallax and simplified equations of motion. There's lots of detail because he spends hours every day thinking about this stuff. That level of focus leads to an overly narrow perspective which is why he's not a good artist, writer or even programmer. My standards for what constitutes "genius" are weird. I kind of (weird, lovely analogy) liken him to Wesley Willis. Totally crazy, and with little to no real talent, but I think he's brilliant. He's a total trainwreck of a human being, but he has a very unique perspective on life and it shows through his work.

To clarify, I don't think he is a genius in the sense that he is really intelligent or has any kind of virtuosity at programming. Hell, I'm not sure if genius is the right word. I think he is a "genius" in the purely artistic sense. People in the thread have referred to Platform Masters as a work of outsider art and I agree. If you think I am referring to him as a genius because I think he is a savant programming master, you are missing the point.
