Is the macro working fine for everyone? For some reason, whenever I try it in the official arena build, it assigns equipment fine, but not skills. It is simple to run, so I don't think I'm missing anything there. Female gremlin if that matters.

Not good news for my gremlin, I think you had a very similar build to mine. Although I am fighting a troll, so maybe the lack of venom will help.

1800 tasty more points coming! Getting that first strike was critical, and dodging while on the ground was lucky too. I thought the knockdown was going to end it. Hopefully there are many more foot stabs in the future. Pedantic edit: Meat curtains is a she gremlin, hence the name.

Tirius posted:Wow! Thought I had that one in the bag, but what a surprise! Congrats Jackyl! I tested a few times and it was roughly 50-50, depending on where my first shot went and whether or not you got me on the ground. I never tested against an armored troll, though, so I never saw the first strike go to the troll.

Asehujiko posted:From my testing, a weapon that completely ignores a large enemy's armor advantage is the most effective counter to them. Felled a steel clad yeti with a spine hit on the first run with it. I didn't expect to get matched against my own counter of a medium size, high defense enemy with how popular big gladiators are but such is life. I realize the problems with what I am about to propose, the least of which involves betting something worth marginally more than bit coins, but... Would it be possible to show equipment setups, but not skill, for betting? I know this means that a) setups cannot be shown until frozen for obvious reasons and b) the betting window on the first fights is limited. However, the first round is completely blind, and seeing gear doesn't seem that unrealistic. After all, ypu already know race. Skills should, of course, remain a mystery. Of course this requires more effort and can't be implemented this tourney (or round) for balance reasons, but it would at least give a strategy for first round betting besides name and size. Not that I mind, since I gained 1k dorfbux, but still... For latter rounds, you can find their first fight and extrapolate, but seeing gear upgrades could be cool too. The gladiators are just hanging out in cages with booze and statues and miasma and their gear, right? jackyl fucked around with this message at Aug 17, 2011 around 01:56 |

I didn't mean to start a controversy, I was just thinking that there should be some way to save yourself from betting on a serpent man with a blue pick in the first round. I didn't bet on that fight, but it was so ridiculous that it made me wonder about first round bets vs every other round bet. After the first round is done, you have an idea how each fighter is rolling. In the first round, though, it is basically a lottery. Every other round involves strategy. I get the problems with showing gear in the first round, but I feel bad for anyone who bet on a serpent with a blue pick or an ant with a blue helm. Maybe there's a middle ground and you only show the single most expensive piece of gear the gladiator owns in the first round. If there's a tie, you pick one at random. Then, all gear isn't shown, but you can at least weed out the gimmicks. Edit: I know all my proposals mean more work, and I'm sorry. Also I am bad at typing on an iPad. jackyl fucked around with this message at Aug 18, 2011 around 02:15 |

I was playing DF the other day and got the gremlin warning. I let it run away to keep Meat curtains happy. Hopefully she appreciates this.

There needs to be a separate bet section on O/U for days between updates. Pick an arbitrary number after an update, then take bets on over and under and payout based on who wins.

Arg, I must have overrated the dodge skill at 10. Meat curtains is curtains. E: I considered the parry problems, but I figured the charge and stun was more dangerous to little people. so, I decided to go for dodging until getting a lucky strike in and assumed weapon skills would level up at the same rate with strike/parry. obviously, that was wrong. e2: still in awe that a 10 dodge skill got hit with the first charge, good job by Clown Baby. Maybe the size differential makes it harder to dodge a charge since you have to move further? Since it no longer matters, here's the build: She has the following skills. Level 4 Fighting (Skilled) Level 8 Knife (Expert) Level 10 Dodging (Accomplished) Level 3 Shield (Competent) jackyl fucked around with this message at Apr 18, 2012 around 02:10 |
