Hippie Aquaman. He comes out of the water onto the beach with some Earth junk thrown into the oceans and is all "Come on, son! Think!" at the kid who threw it in there and then puts a whale on his shoulder and goes back into the ocean having done a heroic deed. Then he goes home to his wife, Mera, who is frothing with Red Lantern Rage and shakes his head "Man, no respect." and then next morning at work he's got rival clans arguing while he's on his throne amused over their petty squabbling.

There are only two versions of Aquaman I would be interested in reading: one is Brave and the Bold Aquaman. The other is Aquaman from the Supergirl story in Wednesday Comics, where he's basically a politician constantly getting calls about the troubles the sea sponges are having and stuff.

Yesssss! I need to know which issue or if someone has the panels I can read about Aquaman getting calls about sea sponges having trouble! That's what I want to read! I'm not joking either. Little shorts like that would be awesome. The other option is to go totally sincere in an old fashioned good natured Aquaman "classic" hero kind of way. Like something Darwyn Cooke could pull off. Also, Rags' art is beautiful. They should just release a version of the book with his pencils instead of finished coloring and inking.

I'll say this, if the uproar about women in creative roles and that comment results in them driving a big truck of cash to Jimmy Palmiotti's house to get Amanda to draw a Power Girl book, they can have all my money. (I know, it's not gonna happen...)

I'd like to see Amanda Conner drawing Supergirl, maybe the next best thing. Maybe I can start looking past that bad costume if someone else is drawing it.

I must be the only person on earth that doesn't like Amanda Conner's art. Batgirl 14, where her and Supergirl are fighting the Draculas, is my favorite issue of anything ever and I'm afraid DC will never be able to recapture that.

They were just mentioning characters who are actually in the relaunch. I'm pretty sure Geoff Johns is still the only Mera fan in the universe.

I don't like Morales' art at all, and while I can still see hints of the usual things that bug me in his art (weird crazy eyes and goofy facial expressions), it looks better than most of his stuff I've seen, I suppose.

The thing I'm most excited for about he reboot is definitely the art on the vast majority of these books. I think this is definitely the impact of Mark Chiarello's promotion, and it looks like he's (mostly) putting an end to the days of the DC House Style. Yeah, Liefeld, Benes, Finch, and Booth are in the mix, but they're the exception at this point. Even some of the artists I had completely written off like Joe Bennett and Fernando Dagnino (IE, the guys who did all of the ugly issues of Generation Lost) are putting out stuff that looks like this and this. That's a pretty massive improvement when you compare it to this poo poo. Even Phillip Tan is doing some surprisingly strong work.

You know what I just realized? "Grounded" is the last arc of the "current" Superman we get before the reboot. That makes me so

I'm a little confused by Liefield's involvement, because it implies he must actually draw readers to a book who would otherwise be uninterested. He has to command a higher page rate than a random nobody, although said random nobody could doubtless produce the same work. So he has actual, real fans who buy books specifically to see his art.

Bleeding Cool rumor mill time: Nicola Scott and James Robinson on a new JSA book?quote:Dan DiDio told retailers a month ago that Nicola Scott had an upcoming project at DC Comics. But word from late night San Diego bar gossip is that the project is with James Robinson (no longer writing the Hawkman relaunch) and it’s the much puzzled over Justice Society Of America. As brought up, there's that mysterious S.T.R.I.P.E. figure Mattel made, claiming that it was the post-relaunch design for the character. It probably makes more sense to cram him, Stargirl, and a few other JSA favorites into a new book rather than giving them all solo titles, and having a female artist on a book would be in line with Didio's claim of more projects with female involvement. Hopefully this comes to pass, and fairly soon.

Liefeld might get a lot of (deserved) slack but his books sold like gangbusters back in the day. His style appeals to the 13 year old boy who sees big big guns, girls with impossibly huge breasts, lots of swords and anything else that would make said 13 old boy say "awesome". Maybe they are trying to attract those kind of readers to Hawk and Dove. Ha.

Variant cover for Justice League #1 revealed, with art by (ugh) Finch. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?...rticle&id=33690 Things to note: 1) Cyborg is missing. 2) Wonder Woman is officially back in shorts (the regular cover has been modified to be pantless too) 3) Other than the new belt, collar, and the gilded cuffs, Finch just pretty much drew the same Superman we got before. I wonder how long it'll be before other artists start just doing the same thing, and his plated armor just becomes a strongman suit again.

Superman looks like some kind of evil puppet master in that variant, exactly what I think of when I think of Superman.

I'm confused, Wonder Woman looks more like a stripper/dominatrix than she ever did in the old DCU, I thought one of the major initiatives of this soft reboot was less objectification of female characters.
