Try to quit to the main menu and then choose campaign. After going through the portal I think you'll spawn at your last mission.

Walk around for a bit and your mentor/commander should give you three random missions.

For run and gun normal is fine. For sneaky hacking types: easy with reduced enemy spawns.

Hacking seems kind of underpowered in general. When I was first playing through New Eden I ended up with like 60+ in hacking before I left the area. The difference in difficulty compared to the 30-40ish skill I had at the start? Not a drat thing. I don't even know exactly how the hacking skill affects the minigame, if it does it at all.

Same. I even have an upgraded firewall and hacking is bug-gently caress useless. Regardless of how many points you put into it, it does nothing to make the mini-game easier. I have no idea what the hacking skill is supposed to alter. I have 70 and there hasn't been any difference from the beginning of the game when I was at 40 hacking. Seems like a bug.

Haha. I just tried cranking difficulty up to maximum, and spawns up to high, and did the second story mission - the Forgotten Center - and ended up gaining about 7 levels, 70k cash, and killed 280 enemies.

I love my minigun so very much... but now I have enough accuracy to buy the autocannon. Let's see if this is an improvement, eh?

I don't know about the hacking skill but I think the firewall is only there to prevent counterhacks when you fail.

This game looks fun as hell. How's the gunplay? Is it like Deus Ex in which you start out barely being able to control a hand gun and progress from there? Or do skill ups simply give you more damage/skills to use?

People were saying that the shooting is Counterstrike-esque and some of the best they've seen in the Source engine.

I liked Deus Ex for the gameplay in theory but I just found the setting/story/characters/dialog so dull that it couldn't be carried by the gameplay. I still can't figure out if I would like this game or not.

It sounds cool as an openended FPS RPG where I can just go around and shoot mans and level up and get better equipment, then shoot more mans. But it sounds incredibly unintuitive and frustrating to just... figure out how to play. I don't feel like putting any actual effort in to tackling a steep learning curve just to shoot guns at guys.

Some of the higher level enemies are "tanks". They have shielding (probably dermal sheathing) and a lot of hitpoints.

This isn't the game for you if you want to just run around and shoot people. There's a lot to it and it's all very complex.

This looks to be chock full of potential---gotta grab this when funds avail.

If the devs can get a good pace of updates going to fix, tweak, and add to the game proper---wow this should be something. If/when modding opens up, I give it...hmm...a few months at most before there's at least a skeleton of a proper'ish Shadowrun mod entering into the fray.

You start out as an elite bionic badass and upgrade from that point. The guns are very accurate and very powerful, but enemies are execptionally numerous too. After just a few hours of play, I'm now able to sprint at a respectable speed in full power-armor and jump 20 feet while blasting away with a minigun that can empty a 500-round clip in 22 seconds of sustained murder.

Au contraire. My character is specced specifically towards shooting people, and with the difficulty cranked up a bit, it's throwing Serious Sam-esque swarms of enemies at me all the time.

Well, yeah, there is a lot of running around and shooting people, but the interface, hacking and pretty much every other thing you'll be doing does take some figuring out.

I might have to try speccing a character like that sometime, though. Sounds like a blast.

I usually go for the sneaky type thing and go for accuracy and cunning above strength and firepower. So I've been using a silenced sniper and bought that silent SMG too. Fun times. I tried a secondary mission and was told to go kill something called a Deus Ex Machina. Since I have been able to use my stealth and accurate fire to take down most all foes so far, this new enemy shouldn't be a prob- OH MY GOD. After unloading all of my SMG ammo into this things head, it finally caught me in the face with a rocket and I died so hard my game crashed.

This game is quite unlike anything I've ever played. It's truly surreal.

I'm really starting to get tired of the hub level. I'll be in a dialog and click an option and shoot my gun, and everyone will try to kill me. Or I'll be on one of many narrow walkways and an NPC will bodyblock me into the death pit that is everywhere. Just now I tried to jump over a dude on a staircase and landed on someone else, who apparently took damage, because then they shot at me.

I die more in the goddamn safe zone than in missions. I like the rest of it but this is truly truly dumb.

I don't know about you, but to me the default controls are not mapped out well at all. Enter key to use? Really? I remapped that to F and fire mode to a H, but I'm still trying to figure out a more comfortable setup for the others. Maybe I'll map it as close to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as possible...

One of the devs posted on the Steam forums that you should disable ultra-violence if you're having crash issues. Apparently there's a memory leak related to it. Also said that there could be a patch as soon as next week. Be sure to verify your game cache through Steam too.

Just in case you guys weren't aware, the selling point that "death does not penalize the player" is total horse poo poo. You can randomly be assigned fatal wounds when you die, and according to the developer who posted on the Steam forums, there's no way to remove the penalties.

So yeah, try not to die.
