There are probably better examples that I just cannot think of right now. e: This opinion probably comes from the fact that Houston's other strikers are pretty hit-or-miss at hold-up play, so I have always considered Ching to be the guy who does "the best" at holding onto the ball and bringing other people into the play. I mean, Ching is what he is, but at least he's always what he is, right?

I made my first post throwing him under the bus just to be that guy, but I see his "value," so.... "yes" I guess would be the answer to your question? What really upsets me is that we have nobody else who seems to have a clue what they're doing on the pitch... and that my English friends joke about him like he's Heskey.

"yes" I guess would be the answer to your question? Personally, I like Ching. The height of the "Ching days" in the international game was before my time, so my opinion comes from having seen him play for Houston regularly. He always seems to be good for retaining possession and for scoring an amazing acrobatic goal every so often. Wildlife Analysis fucked around with this message at Mar 31, 2012 around 23:54 |

I actually like when we play Donovan as a striker in games where we are mostly playing the counter attack as his speed and skillset works well with it. Dempsey doesn't work up top because he gets frustrated with the service and drifts into the midfield anyway. Ideally we want both of these guys in their more natural positions behind someone who knows what the hell they are doing, we just don't have that guy yet. (I do still have faith in the development of both Jozy and Juan, but we'll see where that goes) In real news Lichaj netted an assist and a goal in the span of two minutes to bring Villa level with Chelsea. Its a shame Villa are poo poo though and then allowed two more goals in the last 10, even letting Torres score one

Since the Primera thread isn't on this page and Brandy seems to live here anyways: It is amazing how composed Primera players seem to be in tight spaces. I am watching Atlas - Pumas right now and even though they are two of the worst teams (currently) in the Primera, the difference in skill on the ball compared to American players is shocking.

I haven't had it since I moved away for school six thousand years ago, but I still fondly remember their extremely low-budget highlight shows and Ray Hudson being ridiculous. I remember back a ways when I got GolTV on a regular tier for a bit and they were showing stuff like El Salvadoran league matches at crappy stadiums. Good times.

I mean they don't just cough the ball up when there is one or more players pressuring them. Even though they are not particularly good teams, the individual dribbling is not bad at all. It is probably one of the areas where MLS is weakest, i.e. 1v1 attacking/defending. Yes, calm.

Tetrix posted:wow a goal called back for offside, and then the call reversed. can't say I've seen that happen in a while. I think the ref overturned it because a Japanese defender hit the "pass".. if that weren't the case the offside would have almost definitely stood - the sideline ref is the only one with the right angle for that call and so pretty much always gets the only say in it.
