Kittens are cute, and sure from time to time I miss when my cats where kittens, but truthfully I prefer the cats once they reach 3-4 mellow out and adopt that more "bropet" personality, just chillin around the place getting pats, but also pretty content to just chill on the coach next to you as you watch TV.

Kittens require SO much more maintainance. I'm pretty sure in 10 years time when my current cats are (unfortunately) reaching the end of their natural lives, I will adopt an already adult cat, instead of rescue kittens.

Though I say this, in actuality half the time I end up with my pets because my sister sees them at a rescue and cant think rationally about adoption (and the fact that she is often not even in the same country 6 months down the line, let alone the same house) and grabs up 2-3 kittens despite the fact she has no stable home. Inevitably they end up with me, when she finds herself in a position where she cant keep the cats.

This post is about me.

Some of the nicknames we've come up with for Grumples and Hat so far, mostly based on the fact that Grumps is fat and Hat has manky legs:

- Grumples and Thumples
- Fatty and Hatty
- Blimpy and Limpy
- Tubs and Stubs

Also, I know I owe this thread major pictures but Hat has only just started exploring the flat and I'm worried a flash in his face will make him go back into hiding.

Edit: some photos of nom time

Look at his poofy little half tail <3

Grumples and Hat are quite the pair! They're very cute and look like lots of fun. More pictures would be great as soon as Hat is up to it.

Hurrah for half tails! I wonder what Hat's will look like when he's spooked. Ford's only floofs at the end of it and looks like a pompom. I call it his "battle hammer".

This is awesome. Also, Grumples looks amazing like our big fat grey/black tabby that passed from FeLV about 4 years ago. So cute.

You've got a wonderful pair of grumpy looking cats there. I love how Hat's tail is coloured entirely different to the rest of him. Grumples is nice too. I hope they end up really good friends.

Believe me, I've cleaned his eyes a zillion times! The vet gave me a bottle of ocular cleaner and I use it with cotton buds as often as he'll let me, but I think he'll always have stains there.

The vet said it's because of the shape of his face, he doesn't have any tear ducts apparently. Aww.

Yeah, I figure he's just one of those teary animals, it would just drive me nuts. As it is I clean my cat's eye goobers every time I see them, and he's got very clean eyes. Hat would drive me nuts.

There are treatments available that are supposed to kill the yeast that causes the staining (most of the time). It's usually a powder or liquid you add to the animal's food.

Some people will just bleach their cats.

I'm like that with my cat's eyes. And their ears. And their toenails. And I like to scoop them up and hug them. My cats hate me.

Absolutely love the pictures of Hat And Grumples. Love the beginner cat pile. Keep them coming.

Is Hat as tiny compared to Grumples as he looks, or is it just perspective? Either way, they both look super cuddly. Hat's got some wonderful feets there.

Grumpy the awesome tabby! And Hat's tail is the best. Don't ever let Daniel Boone know about him, though. The combination of "Hat" with his tail could give him an evil, evil idea.

I so agree with this. A teddy bear! He's the softest, sweetest little cat I've ever seen. He likes to be carried and cuddled and snuggled. I need to make a video of the way he flops over for a fuss when he wants one, it's the cutest thing ever

McDragon posted:

Yep. Hat is TINY and Grumples is a blimp. Hat didn't grow to his full adult size because of his genetic muddliness, and Grumples has never stopped growing. Or eating.

Radio! posted:

Hahahaa, this made me chuckle with glee. Sir Hattington McHalfTail has some fine-rear end threads.

Speaking of rear end, has anyone else noticed that Hat's legs seem to be really far forward from his bottom? It's like he has a big booty. I'll try and get a picture that demonstrates it better, but that cat has a rump.

This picture is hypnotizing in a way that it's going to glue itself onto my brain and transfer the raw data straight to the most hair-ripping vivid dream ever. Not sure whether it's due to the funky appearance of the seemingly dancing meat or the ecstasy-like cat eyes.

In short: lovely picture of feline in action.
