It's funny that they rejected the reset button emote but put in the faces of the runners that can't really be used to express anything, except maybe mockery of their appearances.

I really liked the group commentary for the run of Comix Zone that was just posted on SDA. I kind of think that audio commentary should be made mandatory for submissions.

the community really could use a wiki to replace all of that. SDA's primitive and dated design is not necessary in the age of unlimited length Youtube. Mostly, people ARE doing it that way now, streaming their attempts and putting their really good ones on Youtube, maybe with commentary. You just have to know people's names and stuff, which makes it harder to get word out. Speedrunslive is really cool because it's designed to get amateurs interested and playing themselves, and its a clear place to go to discover streams and stuff.

They did stop--you can now at least upload 1080p stuff in 60fps and it will come up with an "original" option in the resolution menu.

UraniumAnchor posted:Until youtube stops dropping everything to 30fps, this is still a valid complaint, especially on older games with alternating flicker effects. Do old NES games run at 60fps? I always assumed that they could get away with 30 since the hardware was considerably weaker and and the action tended to not be so tightly timed that 30fps would be noticable like an FPS today. Stuff frequently disappears or looks solid when it should be flickering. ![]() Edoraz posted:Considering you do TASes all the time, I thought you knew TASvideos does this all the loving time with their youtube uploads, since the ability to do it has been available. They have other reasons for that unrelated to the framerate, though. That's more of a case of trying to preserve the colorspace. But the NTSC signals the NES puts out have already lost that information by the time it even gets to the capture device, so there's no point to it for a console capture. Also the last time I did a TAS was like five years ago and I didn't even complete it so I think you have me mixed up with somebody else. ![]() Dr. Dos posted:Do old NES games run at 60fps? Oddly enough, 30 fps is far more common in the current generation than it was back in the pre-3d days. Most games back then were actually 60 fps. I'm sure a Youtube embed option would be something that got added in a site redesign, but last I heard the official SDA Youtube account couldn't upload things longer than 15 minutes yet. And not everybody uploads their stuff to Youtube. Though I'm curious what's wrong with the JW player other than it being tied to Flash? No pop-out, no size changes except for 1x or fullscreen (unless I'm missing something), very difficult to find specific times on very long movies. YouTube's player is amazingly robust, and I'd always rather watch stuff there. I was watching this evening's Cosmo run out of the corner of my eye, muted, and wondered what made the Forest Water expire so early. Good (well, bad) to know.

If you click the link above the embedded video, it will bring you to a dedicated page with more size options (specifically 2x, 3x, and 4x). It still won't help you find specific times, though.

And he did beat his time by a minute and a half, by the way. He really wants to hit a sub 2 hour run, and he proved it possible, which is crazy.
