26:28 in OoT by Zfg, with what he guesses are about 3 minutes that can immediately be shaved off simply through better playing, let alone what new strategies could shave off. Will we see a sub-20 run by next week? Edit: down to 25:48 now. Edit: 23:29. And we now enter the phase where every 5 second mistake is a reset. take_it_slow fucked around with this message at Apr 14, 2012 around 21:26 |

ZFG1 just beat his OOT any% record again, with a whopping 26:27, and there's still room for improvement!

next marathon Cosmo needs to do his usual wonderful MST run but then also do a 20 minute run because that just sounds hilarious. His OoT run gets so many people that don't really follow speedrunning at all to watch that are amazed by any sequence break (not just in how flawlessly he performs, but just that it's even a thing in the game at all) that I would love to see some minds shatter.

It goes without saying that someone will do an any% run next marathon. The funny thing is that everyone expected the huge thing to be Ganonless strategy with pedo Link. Now Ganon is back in.

I'd almost prefer them to make some big pomp and circumstance about an MST run but when it rolls up just have him quietly do the new any% instead.

Have him do both in a row because as great as a fakeout would be, OoT raises massive amounts of money.

So ZFG wrapped up tonight with a really sad freeze. I guess having boulders drop on you in the castle as a kid sometimes freezes the game. Still, he got 25:48 and that was with a few glaring mistakes. Pretty cool.

I like to think that one of those big 10k+ donations during the Speedrunning marathons is from one of them.

I remember there being a game developer donating during the Metroid Prime speedrun in last year's marathon. I think he commented with something like, "That's not how the game is supposed to be played ."

Having your game still hold together in spite of sequence breaks is something to be proud of I think.

His message was something more along the lines of "Oh wow people still know about and play this game." The best part was that he one the big bundle of Sonic comics.

Is there a community that only does speed runs without ANY exploits? Like just play the game the way it was designed as fast as possible? Most of the runs I've watched over the years exploit some bug that makes the gameplay really boring to watch.

My understanding of Twin Galaxies is they're how your parents would attempt to speed run a game. Perish the thought of exploiting game mechanics.

After Chasing Ghosts and The King of Kong I can't take Twin Galaxies seriously at all. Also there are plenty of speed runs on SDA that are glitchless simply because the game doesn't have glitches to exploit for time.

Glitches can be fun as hell, too. I love creative sequence breaking and OoB tricks. I also picked up flying from the Psychonauts speedrun and loved every second of trying it myself (pchoo)

SDA was built on speedrunning quake which would have been a million times more boring if bunny hopping didn't exist.

But you can't get the final blow on Ganon if you use the Biggoron's Sword, so how in the gently caress is he pulling it off with the Deku Sword? I can't even wrap my mind around this crazy poo poo.

So despite the fact that Child Link's model is using the Kokiri Sword, Link himself is actually using the Master Sword.
