Sadly it doesn't seem like dk28 will be getting his 9:54 time in Contra... ...Because he CRUSHED it with a 9:53.79, pending a frame count now for an official time. Edit: Yep, official. 17796 frames, 09:53.793 final time. Holy cow. E-Tap fucked around with this message at 07:26 on Jun 28, 2015 |

That was a great run. I'd just turned off my PS4 for the night to watch and he was right in the middle of Base 2, which is pretty much the barrier for the whole run if you don't get the boss glitch. Looks like he nearly died from the Jungle boss shooting a short round that would have hit him in 1 or 2 more frames, so that run almost didn't happen.

So uh, what's the secret to using the quicksave quickload to clip through stuff in FO3? I've been testing it out in New Vegas but so far I can only get it to work at corners and it's only really useful if you want to warp back to the entrance of whatever area you're in.

That EO3 run was pretty nuts but it looks like it 100% revolves around removing the RNG as much as you can. I'm assuming that wouldn't work for EO4 or the Untold series which are designed for the 3DS hardware, but who knows.

I meant to mention this when sign ups were open, but I forgot. There's a giant 64 person FFIV paladin% (up to when Cecil turns into a paladin) tournament going on now. Kick off race was today and already a bunch have people have raced, plus an eight person for fun race. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xzNRB_BH6XgY4ilnRmYHnRY-I_2X_Ou2GH7REG3DA0w/edit https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1W6154zUynoKdBDLyi-QlF3lOELoI_OFh79w7TJ6X-vs/edit#gid=635407956 https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/mysidia_mayhem__final_fantasy_4_paladin_race_tournament.html If you enjoy FFIV then try to catch some races. Or watch me fail miserably at mist skip.

The 12 Hour Speedrunning Challenge has started today, and goes through the 5th. People picked a new game to learn, and the goal is finish a complete run within 12 hours. If you want to see people fail for hours, maybe streamers you love, check it out: http://www.twitch.tv/team/12hourchallenge I picked Secret of Mana 1p2c because I'm masochistic. e: SRL just tweeted that their website has a filter button on the right for the streams: http://www.speedrunslive.com/ BloodWulfe fucked around with this message at 20:34 on Jul 3, 2015 |

I kinda wish I'd known about this sooner but since it's not too late I'll throw my own hat in the ring for this. I'm going to learn Papo & Yo, a delightful puzzler game with some completely ridiculous speedrun tricks. http://www.twitch.tv/succinctandpunchy/ Let's have fun.

Yeah, sorry about that, I found out last second myself. You could probably still tweet your run time to Go1den for data collation. Secret of Mana is hard! And I even had two of the best runners coaching me throughout.

BloodWulfe posted:Yeah, sorry about that, I found out last second myself. You could probably still tweet your run time to Go1den for data collation. This is made a little hard by the fact I don't have a Twitter. I did eventually complete a run of Papo & Yo after spending like eight actual hours practicing the insanely precise jumps and OoB's which can kill the run/softlock the game if you fail them. I spent four and a half hours trying to do one skip and then promptly deafened headphone users when I eventually got it and in the end I ignored the skip and opted to use a safer, more reliable route so that was four hours well spent. Also, like two and a half hours spent trying to get one single skip in Act 3 to work which every other runner of the game seems to be able to do effortlessly but I just cannot figure out for the life of me. Send help. Final time clocked in at 1:03:08 and features me and some other goon talking about stupid poo poo over a lot of it and the run is also bad so I include this more for posterity's sake: http://www.twitch.tv/succinctandpunchy/c/6922650 WR's like 48 minutes and is pretty drat crazy and I've got a long way to go to challenge that poo poo so if you want to see a genuinely competent person run this cool game it's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeBc0mOPQCg this was a pretty fun if somewhat tortuous way to pick up a new speedgame, just blast the loving thing

The Daltony posted:So uh, what's the secret to using the quicksave quickload to clip through stuff in FO3? Apparently it's overall a more reliable trick in FO3 because New Vegas has slower loads which causes the window of time where you can clip through objects to be shorter. There's weird stuff you can do using that trick in FO3 to get onto the ceiling of levels, but there's very few places in the game where you can actually do that. Speaking of Fallout 3, progamingwithed has been routing and doing runs of an all quests category: http://www.twitch.tv/progamingwithed/c/6920244

I've been watching progamingwithed when I can catch his broadcast yeah. I've wanted to route something similar in NV since it's one of my favorite games. Not sure why he won't do the speedboost glitch since I didn't find it that hard to get going when I've tested it out.

Dice has been running SS all levels in dustforce, aiming to take back the WR: http://www.twitch.tv/dicetherice He's had a couple runs so far going into yotta at WR pace by quite a bit but lost it on yotta. Worth a watch to see someone tackle on of the most insanely difficult speedrun categories of any game. edit: Calistus will be running any% all levels at sgdq this year, which should also be a good watch. But SS all levels is something unlikely to show up at a marathon just for how few people can even complete it, let alone do it quickly. (Technically, Dustforce's first marathon appearance was SS all levels at one of the gdq's, but the runner ended up not SS'ing yotta. No knock on him though, because just doing that at all is nightmarish) edit2: He got the WR! animatorZed fucked around with this message at 18:51 on Jul 5, 2015 |
