Got to see almost all of the 5:27:59 live, it was an excellent watch. So glad he didn't reset after the DRC BK skip.

He just messed up the first step of the Earth Temple "Muggskip" (which he also screwed up in the previous record), so he's down to -4:55. 5:25:00 is still on the table as long as he doesn't mess up Forest Water or something similarly huge.

From what I know of the current "research", there aren't too many promising leads on big time-saving skips. The TAS miiiiiiight get the mythical Barrier Skip, where you go directly to Ganon's tower the first time you go to Hyrule, but even that might require getting the Hookshot first. The devs set up Hyrule in such a gently caress-you way that it's likely impossible to do any kind of barrier skip outside of TAS. I'm trying to think of skips that could cut half an hour off the run. A big ol' skip in Wind Temple or Earth Temple would be the biggest help. If we assume the hard requirements for Hyrule 2 are "get all the pearls, Hyrule 1, power up the Master Sword, get all of the Triforce pieces"...that's a hell of a lot of time with very few tremendous skips. And honestly, anything that skips more than a dungeon's worth of content -- like Wrong Warp / etc. does to Ocarina of Time -- kind of ruins the speed game, IMO. Watching Cosmo is a pleasure because there's just SO MUCH he has to do correctly.

QuantaStarFire posted:He's also two minutes ahead of his record already, and that's with gently caress-ups. Before anyone asks, because ugh the twitch chat is so bad: The JP version has much faster text, but the Cabana deed skip is much harder to pull off because the Hookshot controls are different. It's unlikely that Cosmo will switch to the JP version for record attempts. And this current race is just to Hyrule 1 (the first Master Sword), not the whole game, though I could see Cosmo keeping it going after the sword if he gets intrigued by the JP version differences.

5:20 will be a painful road, I think. Now that he's so low, he needs to get first try Southern Fairy or Outset on the cyclone every time, or the run is pretty much shot right there. He can make up some more time on the Cabana, too, but...it's the Cabana skip. I think he should go for JP, personally.

Wow, the Japanese version of Wind Waker is so much faster. I didn't catch most of this run, so I don't know what kind of mistakes he may have made on earlier sections, but even with the extra chart time and a bad Puppet Ganon fight he's gonna be well below 5:30. I think sub-5:20 will be easy with the proper route, and he might even be looking at 5:15 someday. edit: Before anyone asks, it's because the text scrolls so much faster.

Also, even Cosmo is having lots of trouble with WW Dive Storage, because it's two frame-perfect triggers in quick succession (doing the WW Dive itself and then hitting the tiny Storage window). It's basically a TAS-level thing that Cosmo is trying to do because he's Cosmo.

So if a block lists a ton of prizes, are people entering to win ALL of those prizes, or is each prize "package" within a given block given away separately? I think a more robust explanation of how donating for prizes works, with lots of specifics, would get more people to donate. I assume it's a random lottery, for instance, but are all donations treated equally? Why not make it so that $5 = 1 ticket, i.e. $5 is one entry and $100 is 20 entries?
