Zero VGS posted:Thanks, I'm not sure which setting it was but something in the controls category did fix it. I made it to level 11. Speaking of which... When boss enemies appear in a multiparty area, their name may have a prefix attached. These bosses in particular have stronger powers and abilities, even changing the abilities of enemies nearby. Awesome.

This is something I haven't seen in any videos so far, so I'm wondering if it's still in the game at all. PSO & PSU had what was basically a to-hit roll to determine if you made contact with an enemy or not. So it was possible to successfully land a blow, but then 'miss' would pop up in PSO or you'd just deal 0 damage in PSU. Is that still in, or is it out? I hated that particular feature as it was responsible for so many hits that otherwise I wouldn't have taken.

A bit of bad news. Sega's filed a copyright complaint on the volcano video, so I've deleted the other video as a precaution. The videos will be re-uploaded but they're going to be set as Unlisted this time so they shouldn't get taken down. I'll edit this post with the old videos as they're uploaded. On the other hand, have another look at the Forest, this time with some rare wired lances, Just Guarding, and a boss fight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51eoTE0XtMU Edit: Forest video is done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dz1oXPJSai0 Double edit: Volcano video is now back as well, this time in better quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1kX8Pszpq0 Buried alive posted:This is something I haven't seen in any videos so far, so I'm wondering if it's still in the game at all. Not only is there no missing, but accuracy isn't even a stat anymore. Instead, some enemies can block your attacks entirely if you do not position yourself and time your attacks carefully.

Can you stop attacking and block mid combos? To successfully perform a Just Guard you need to block right before the enemy is about to hit you. Too early and you'll perform a regular guard that still deals damage to you and also drains a portion of your PP. Too late and you'll just take the hit. At the moment, the only weapons you can Just Guard with are wired lances and swords, which means only Hunters can do it, and they have to unlock prerequisite skills beforehand. Although swords swing slower, they're generally easier to cancel into a block, compared to wired lances that require more planning in order to block mid-combo. Wired lance PAs are interesting because they work differently on large enemies or targettables. In the example shown in the video, I got caught in a trap that requires you to break it before the meter runs down and it explodes. The lance grabbed the trap, which can't actually be spun, so it materialized an energy sphere to use for the rest of the PA. This behaviour also happens in situations with lag - if it can't actually grab the enemy due to not having received data from the server, you'll pull out an orb as well.

Not that this was ever a part of the original PSO's, but is there any way to determine enemy or boss health? I was in a Code: Duel with two of those Rock Bears or whatever they were, and with three level 10's we fought them for over a half hour straight and couldn't kill them. Sometimes they would drop for a few seconds and get back up, as if we were supposed to run up and finish them in some kind of God of War style QTE, but no such luck. Edit: Also why the gently caress did Sega pull your vid. I can't believe you actually humored them by putting in the copyright and disclaimers like they asked for too. They must have a PR guy that they pay to do that all day. Zero VGS fucked around with this message at Jan 28, 2012 around 23:59 |

Interesting, I imagine most melee weapons will be able to block then? Save for special cases like the gunslash? I wonder if there'll be a shield type weapon like from PSP2, maybe with a larger window for just guarding. Forgot to comment on it earlier, but those unit accessories look incredibly cool. Is there an option to turn them off though? Visually, that is. For the not so cool looking ones.

Yep, Just go into the unit menu, click on the unit and select the stealth option and they won't display on your character. Anyway, if anyone wants to know anything specific about force gameplay, you can throw your questions my way. In response to an earlier question, charged Resta makes the sound from PSU, whereas uncharged Resta makes a slightly different sound (not sure if it's the one from PSO).

In case anyone is trying to get into tonight's alpha test and is wondering why they can't, the servers were just taken offline for emergency maintenance. I think they are extending the test by a few hours to compensate once the servers come back up.

The thing about costumes in PSO2 is that they're no longer class-limited, so you can choose whatever outfit you like. You can run a Hunter wearing a Force robe or a Ranger in Hunter clothes, so the only difference is going to be racial features like the Newman pointy ears. Still, here are the default RAnewm and RAnewearl appearances as shown in the character creator: RAnewm ![]() RAnewearl

Ok well you asked for it. All of these are linked (because they are big) and the latter two have had the background color changed so as to better display certain almost transparent icons. The first one isn't very interesting, just some pieces of UI windows and chat balloons and the like: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9259868/ui_balloon.png Next up, we have this enormous array of weapon/item/skill/etc. images, which may give some clues about the number of weapons and such: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9259868/ui_icon_alpha2.png Of note here, there appears to be space for a total of 7 melee weapons (including gunslash and probably fists/knuckles), 3 ranged weapons, and 3 tech weapons. We're probably also looking at 5 techs per element, though that one is a bit more in the realm of pure speculation. Also featured in this image is the icon for what can only be Scape Doll, and a few previously unmentioned female clothing sets. Then, here's a sheet of icons from the first alpha client: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9259868/pso...transparent.png And here's the equivalent from the second alpha client: http://i.imgur.com/SbY8p.png While a lot of the small icons are anyone's guess at this point, a few things can be deduced. First of all, the weapon icon placement here seems to corroborate the information discussed above (which also matches some strings of data found in the client). Notice also that there appear to be icons for sub-classes on this sheet. It seems that they decided to blank out icons by making them all lime green instead of just deleting them, which was kind of boneheaded thing to do, because now we've got three extra icons that perfectly match up with the H/R/F icons for Hunter/Ranger/Force. The three new ones are G/F/T, current speculation is Gunner/Fighter/Techer, but feel free to draw your own conclusions and get over-hyped over stuff that could just as easily have been the icon guy getting bored and doodling some stuff they never even plan to use. In non-image related datamining news, there's some evidence that there will likely be two (possibly more) areas per planet. Naverius will likely have both Forest and "IceWall" (you can see snowy mountains in the distance pretty much everywhere in the forest), and Amduscia will have Caves and "DragonLand" (perhaps the dragonkin RIZARDMAN guys have their home on those floating islands in the sky?).

Weren't all or most of the tech names already ripped from the first alpha? Also, seeing as how PSP2 had 24 different weapon types, I think it's pretty silly to assume that PSO2 will only have seven. Isn't there anything more definitive to speculate on, or is this all you have?

Lots of PC games have icons for xbox 360 controllers. I've been playing Saints Row 3 on PC with a 360 controller, and it replaces all of the in-game key prompts with the appropriate controller buttons on the screen. It's not coming to consoles for a couple years after the PC release, if it ever does. By now, console hardware is at the lower end of PC setups, and this is coming from someone who only plays like three games on PC.

Isn't there anything more definitive to speculate on, or is this all you have? Unfortunately, this is basically all we have to go on right now. Like I said, it's all speculation, but there has been some data found that corroborates the notion of 13 weapons. I'm fairly certain that there have also been references to twin daggers and double sabers found somewhere in the data, so we're probably looking at a melee lineup of Gunslash, Sword, Knuckles, Wired Lance, Double Saber, Twin Daggers, and one other weapon (Partisans? Slicers? Who knows?). As far as ranged and tech weaponry goes, Launchers, Wands, and Cards seem likely to be in, but it's anyone's guess at this point. And with regards to the 360/PS3 button icons, like others have stated, that's just because the game changes the UI icons based on the type of controller you are using. I wouldn't read much into it beyond that. Surprise Noodle fucked around with this message at Feb 11, 2012 around 07:46 |
