What's the best way to kill Endermen at the moment in Pre 4? I stumbled upon one in a cave the other day and killed him pretty easily, but the others I encounter outside don't want to party and just teleport away.

Hmm, maybe I was trying to fight them in daylight. I'll try staring them down at night, but I get lots of creepers around my base at night so I might have to make some cunning buildings I can slash at them from safety like a frightened girl.

I've been playing since alpha but I haven't scratched the surface of the new stuff but I want to get into that stuff now. I need a crap load of ender pearls amongst other things.

It's amazing how cool the game is becoming. I like the build up of stuff required for other stuff now - I hope they keep adding plenty of layers to it.

Until two days ago I had found exactly three diamonds in my 1.9 world, and two of those were from chests. On a whim I dug down until bedrock and started digging in my old grid pattern, which was never that successful for me in the past, which is why I had been trying unsuccessfully to acquire them through exploration of the vast cave systems that later iteration of the game seem to generate.

Long story short, I found about 20 diamonds after using maybe 9 steel pick axes digging at bedrock. I've since doubled the search area and found maybe only two more diamonds. I'm going to go back and search the area immediately above my first search area.

I guess that it's easy to dig a huge chunk out and not find any diamonds and conclude that diamonds are more or less prevalent at certain depths compared to previous iterations, but I think a lot of perceived correlations may be due to luck.

In my case it also depends on if I want to use that tactic, which I find extraordinarily boring and cheesy. I prefer to spelunk until I find a big ravine or can just manage to stumble into enough tunnels that I get down to that level. It makes the early MC game more rewarding, makes you a better cave-diver, and honestly just play better. Then again, I only use diamonds for picks and a sword to back up my bow, I never saw the sense in using diamond armor because I have enough sense to look at my inventory screen if I get into some wild combat and am not retarded. IIRC, all armor reduces damage equally, it's just about durability, so only bad Minecraft players or those in a post-scarcity world use diamond armor.

I actually prefer spelunking too, but the constant barrage of creepers I was getting recently was more tiresome than working grids, believe it or not. I wasn't even looking to acquire diamonds until I looked up enchanting tables - the fact that I required more diamonds than I had managed to find in the 3+ weeks of playing my world to make a table and to make a diamond pick in order to extract obsidian gave me little choice as pickings were slim in the three huge cavern complexes I had explored.

So who here has some large mob grinders set up? I'd like to mess with TNT and arrow dispensers in my adventure world but I need lots of sulphur and arrows.

I'm good at building stupidly large, ugly buildings so I thought I might give it a shot. Also, the idea of exploiting supernatural creatures in some ye olde mass production facility appeals to me.

That interactive floor plan is great and easy to follow.

Do you know if there's a reason he's using pistons over lava, other than the coolness factor?

Do you mean there HAS to be a one block space? Because currently I have it set up like this:

code:

BBBBB
BBBBB
BBABB
BB BB
BB BB

and I see the little symbols being absorbed into the book and everything, I just never see an enchantment higher than level 5.

Yeah, you need a space. Here's a good topic on it.

Man, you can tell when you've been playing this game too much. EVERYTHING reminds you of Minecraft.

I work in warehousing, so it makes it worse. That tall pallet over there? Looks like a creeper. Removing large, square boxes from the load face of a shipping container? I'm mining. Using crates and some steel tubing to build a quick and dirty dispensing system for some continuous length cloth? Redstone and piston contraption!
