Hey so I am a complete newbie to this, but I watched what is out of Fourze and I am completely addicted because it is possibly the silliest thing ever. Any other Rider/Tokusatsu series that are as ins anely silly as Fourze? Because I don't think I could watch one of these that takes itself seriously (assuming any of them do).

Double seems to be a good way to step back, it hits a lot of the same rhythms as Fourze. Beyond that, the ones that do take themselves seriously are still pretty good, and there are very few Rider shows that I would call Grimdark all the way. Wait a minute... I have questions about the last episode of Gokaiger. 1. If AkaRed knew Bosco could turn into a monster... why'd he let him join his crew to find the keys again? 2.It seems to me Basco doesn't really care THAT much about the keys, being that's he's lost them with almost every encounter. Why is that 3. Also who can turn into the extra heroes? Gai doesn't have the corresponding button on his Cellular

So after watching the available episodes of Fourze, is there something I'm not getting? It just seems a bit crap to me. Today I watched the first 7 episodes of 000 for the first time. Is there some reason that show wasn't well liked? Did it get off the rails or something, because from what I've seen its miles above the current series.

It's hard to say without saying what you liked/disliked about them, but I loving hated OOOs and am enjoying Fourze so I can't really give you an answer there. I find the cast a lot more interesting and Fourze seems to have some idea behind its gimmicks and fight choreography while OOOs was a muddled mess that went for quantity over quality.

Well I can't stand the high school stuff, it just seems... pointless, so far at least. And the suit is hideous with gimmicky powers. As for OOO, I like that its can be sort of light hearted without being over the top Go-Onger silliness. I cracked up at stuff like Ankh being treated like a special needs student, it was a very American form of humor, to me. The whole vending machine thing is a funny premise to base a show around but it somehow works for me and I dig the suit's aesthetics. But then I've only seen the first four episodes and first ten episodes respectively so they can always get better or worse.

Wait wait, how do you not like the Fourze suit. I will admit to being skeptical at first, but in motion it looks fantastic. Also, the high school stuff is a nice change of pace. Without being too specific OOO's undergoes a huge tonal shift a bit over half way through. So something a bit lighter and with well defined, interesting characters is a nice change of pace. I enjoyed OOO's, by I agree with ImpAtom, by the end it was just a muddle. I find Fourze to have much more of what I enjoyed in W then OOO's did.

The high schol stuff in Fourze is REALLY American, to the point where it's clearly based off American movies, whereas everything in OOOs felt like generic wacky Japanese humor to me. All the poo poo with the underpants or the girl character's unexplained and wacky Super Strength or the cosplay stuff felt like it would have been a lot more at home in some generic anime compared to anything else. Honestly, what I like most about Fourze so far is that I feel like it has a cohesive idea behind everything it is doing. This could obviously go to poo poo later on, but so far it feels like they know what they're going for. With OOOs I never got that feeling and it just sort of meandered along until it reached an ending.

Am I the only one to notice that the Fourze suit gets very noticeably wrinkly when the suit actor turns his upper body in action scenes due to its white quilted texture? I'd give a screencap but to be honest I delete every episode when done watching to save space. But yeah, not a big fan of the Fourze suit and having seen a spoiler of one of its alternate/special/whatever forms it only looks like it will get worse. edit: One thing I didn't like about both series is the sometimes forced nature of the two part episode format. I had heard this was forced in several years ago for money reasons but it still screws with the pacing at certain times when compared to sentai. It's problem is there are too many gimmicks, all of which are fun, but there isn't enough time to use. We all loved the vending machine that turned into a motorcycle, but they barely showed it midway on. Most of the time, Eiji is running somewhere. The only candroids that were really used were the octopus, eel, and bird ones. The peacock gets used for a specific purpose in one episode. Same with the cell medal-powered sword. It's a fun show, and I like most of the characters, but as a plot, it does just muddle through with a few oh poo poo moments.

Midway is about the time they were filming when the big earthquake and all hit. Supposedly they only had a single one of a lot of the props, including the bike, so some things may have been damaged. They also lost an episode of the series run because of that too. Still, I thought the writing was rather weak on OOO, but salvaged by a cast that's generally excellent. I've like Fourze so far, mainly for the bizarreness of it feeling like a Japan-ized John Hughes movie.

The belt itself is a loving disaster (it just looks cumbersome as hell, and three different voices?), but I got over Fourze's Getter-2/rocket motif pretty quick and once I saw CHAINSAW LEG I went "Okay, this is pretty drat cool."

Fourze's design is totally carried by the suit actor, who is doing a pretty phenomenal job at working that personality into the expressions of the suit, which is generally hard to do when you're wearing a helmet that is perpetually scowling. The fight choreography too reminds me of a really enthusiastic Takumi from Faiz, where he's just some straight up god drat brawler who gives no fucks and will headbutt you with his rocketship face.
