What I'm wondering is exactly how much Storage Wars is staged.

We know that clearly "treasures" are planted inside each unit ("Hey, I found a $60,000 work of art behind these soiled matresses covered in bed bugs!") but how "in on it" are the main cast?

Do they know going in what is going to be planted? Are they told by producers that they should have a bidding war on a particular lot as there's something valuable inside? Are they all just actors that A&E hired to stage a reality show?
