dropping two MI24P hinds with spetznaz loaded up in a tree line in a high traffic area does wonders just for points here and there. Shot down like 4 cobras and a couple of gazelles that were baited by a hind with a Squad of spetznaz.

Good times. I rarely use artillery because I just don't ever think of it, I need to figure that out. Level 6 now, loving this game.

what is awesome is making a new deck and forgetting to put commander vehicles in it. Very helpful to my team!

edit: incidentally thats mainly what i did was roll around in pact SAM trucks and blow up cobras for most of my points.

Whoever said something about the T64 is my god now. I just had the best game, my teammate wanted to turtle the whole time but I had a great perimeter, or so I thought until there was a last minute flank around my guys. It was a game of recon and of probing attacks, no real heli or artillery spam either, it was just tense.

Just played a great 4v4 timed match, I think it was set to like 40 minutes. Everyone played real careful and there were no huge rushes, until the end when all of my team mates surrendered, ended with over half the points on my team before they even dropped and I honestly don't even know what they were doing the whole game, I had my sector locked down as well as I could. Ended with like two T80s and 6 t55s holding off hoards of NATO tanks

I would think flashbangs would stun infantry but IDK rarely used them.

It sounds like you need more recon. Also, because I didn't figure it out immediately, you can unlock units to play with the stars that you've earned already, pick the greyed out units on the roster before you start the mission. You should be able to get some better thanks than Leopard 1a1s. If I'm remembering the mission you're stuck on, you should have some basic artillery units, feel free to let them pound the poo poo out of the cities that you need to capture. Probably won't clear them completely but every bit helps, and sometimes you can suppress the enemies.

The AAA guns are messing you up because they're shooting a crap ton of 23mm at them. Trust me when I say in the real world that's no joke, and its modeled in the game.

Finally, if you're just working with inexperienced units, start the campaign over and focus on maintaining your units. Once you know the basic layout of a campaign and a strategy for minimizing your losses you should end up with some leveled up dudes which increase a units performance by quite a bit.

edit: And your helicopters are just getting shot down by massed small arms. Not dedicated AA (like a MANDPADs) but just a hail of gunfire volleyed from the infantry weapons.

edit: though they're bugged right now in SP, don't undervalue sending a group of supply trucks with your dudes. A 50pt group of trucks can keep your 80pt tanks alive in the middle of a fight. Trucks are rarely targeted by the AI in my experience, but leaving them on their own can result in them being captured. Also if you encounter enemy trucks or FOBs, just shoot everything around them and capture them, this can be vital on some missions.

why is the Mi-9 preferable to the 2? The 2 can at lest defend itself or make short work of lone commands.

Fair enough, I think I just assumed all recons had excellent rated optics for some reasons.

But if they had Ground attack craft they should add air superiority fighters into it too

they should just gradually add layers to this game and basically have it be Super Harpoon 2012, but we will never see a game like that

I'm on the 2nd Able archer mission, the Rammstein one, and was just curious if pre-placed units counted against your losses as far as the rest of the campaign, or it only units that you personally deploy.

Also, I'm dumb, is there a way to deploy different levels of veteran tanks or do you have to do each rank individually?

Insert name here posted:

Pre-deployed units are free units so they don't count against your total if you lose them. It's still good to keep them alive though as if they make it to the end of the mission they actually add to your unit count.

Ok, awesome, I'm anal retentive about keeping units so gently caress my life on this mission.

Just had a good game as Pact. Only a 1500 point game, so with my 500 points I bought a PT90, 3 T64As, and took a gamble on 2 once vetted BUK M1s or whatever the best iteration is. BUKs taking up half my allotted points. Chilled out in my corner for a minute, and slowly creeped my tracks up on the enemy encampment across the map. Nothing there but a command and a FOB. Took the FOB and blew up the command. Team still was behind a bit because my team spawned a bunch of crap and tried to blob rush.

Turns out the enemy had spawned apaches to counter the rush, and was doing good. Came to defend their flank from me and heh BUK out of nowhere and shoots down the two apaches, giving us a 400 pt lead

Lost 2 units (PT90 and an MI2 I spawned) and was responsible for 1000 of 1500 points

surprised that a 577 is considered good since they're just M113s with a little extra space.

The only appropriate way to win that game is just to use a poo poo ton of rocket artillery.
