I was worried it would spoil stuff, but he barely glances at two pages of automapped map, and only sees one creature: A GIANT SPIDER! I'm so excited!

Are you afraid of snakes or do you have a phobia of snakes? And why would it being a depiction of a spider and not a real one matter if the phobia isn't rational in the first place? (Most) spiders aren't dangerous whether they're on a computer screen or in your house.

I never played Dungeon Master, but have seen several comparisons with LoG. In a discussion on another site, I found that there have been fan remakes of Dungeon Master. I haven't tried any of these yet, but plan to give the Java version a try. Dungeon Master-browser version Dungeon Master-Java (site 1) Dungeon Master-Java (site2) Dungeon Master-Java with some additions Not sure what differences if any there are in the Java versions.

Giant spiders are in like literally every RPG ever made.

I just had to pre-order it after watching the Kotaku video. Something about that pushed me over the edge. I bought it from the dev store so how do I access the goodies? Or are those not out yet? (I did redeem the code on Steam)

If mobs move around the map and attack you while you're not, it's realtime.

Considering the vast majority of RPGs I can think of included some kind of spider, how have arachnophobic RPG fans survived the genre up until this point?

If implementing a no-spider mode is gonna get them some good PR and not be a pain in the arse to do then I think they should do it, can't hurt considering how small they are. Should a person overcome that fear, if it's that extreme? Probably, yeah, but I don't see why it should be Almost Human's job to make people do that or something.

You can add it to your library, but of course you can't do much other than view one additional entry in your games list. On the Library tab in Steam there is an "Add" button in the lower right. That will give you an option to activate a new Steam title.

How are characters created? I always loved the way Dungeon Master did it, where you clicked on portraits of pregenerated characters as you explored a minidungeon before the actual game. You could find hidden rooms that had some pimped out starting characters. In Chaos Strike Back they even let you create your own character via a special portrait. It doesn't sound like much but this was one of those things that made those games one step beyond the run of the mill crawlers. Will buy this on PC, but i'm really excited of the potential of pure awesome on the uber highres ipad3. It puts my pc to shame.
