yesss a reason to buy a razor hydra sorta related, but they turned both deadliest warrior games into a disc game. I kinda liked the second one (never played the first one). The grapple game of death and shoving people off cliffs is hilarious. http://www.amazon.com/Deadliest-War...adliest+warrior I don't know if this is any cheaper than buying them separately on xbla though (EDIT: oh wait, all the dlc and extra weapons on the second game)

Stick Chat![]() I bought a Madcatz TE stick a couple months ago, and I'm wondering how long I can use it before I need to start looking into replacement parts. It's been getting heavy use between KOFXIII and, now, VF5FS so I'm starting to worry. I just want to be able to tell when it's the stick/buttons showing wear vs my sloppy execution.

If you got a TE, which has real Sanwa parts, you should never have to replace the buttons/stick unless they break altogether, which should take a really long time.

Two quick Guilty Gear questions: 1) Does anyone have the link to that match where two players (I think one was Sol and the other Venom) spent like the first 5 seconds in a coordinated string of clashes? 2) Is Johnny voiced by Norio Wakamoto or just someone who sounds an awful lot like him? vvvv Why do I always forget about IMDB for these things? Do anyone have any videos, articles or tricks on how to stop yourself from mashing when it has become a really bad habit after 12 years of not being taught the right way? I keep on finding myself doing this all the time in the games I do play and it is one of the biggest reasons I am not getting any better as a player. I am finding myself just hitting a button unconsciously when I know that it will whiff and my opponent is going to counter. I also finding myself hitting buttons on block and just getting murdered when I know not to touch anything. I hit the buttons several times during links and combos when I know that one press is one action, causing it to drop 90% of the time and me trying to recover it by doing stupid nonsensical poo poo. I am even starting to question my execution of basic fundamentals because I am doing things that I know I shouldn't but keep doing like raw jumpins that can be easily countered for AA when I already have strong spacing control and corner pressure. I watched the Sirlin's tutorials and I understand the theory but it's like my brain turns off in a match and I go by feeling rather than thinking and analysis. I'm tired of blaming my character, blaming my stick and my connection when I know it is all me all the time.

Go to Marvel 3, play Dante so that multiple button presses gives you entirely different moves. Ratcheting up the operant conditioning should help. ![]() The real answer is that there's no real fix. Just spend time in practice mode until not mashing becomes muscle memory, and play live matches focusing on being less of a spaz.

Don't know how common this is but I have a tough time unlearning habits if I'm just playing, I need to record my games and watch them later to get that. When I can see myself doing something and analyze it like I'm trying to open some P2 moron up it does me more good than hitting rematch. In general you know what you need to do though, think harder before pressing buttons and beat yourself up when you do something dumb (and pat yourself on the back when you block a frame trap or bait the other guy's dangerous gambles).

There's a very candid and interesting interview up on Eurogamer with Ono about Capcom and his recent illness: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...f-yoshinori-ono Sorry if this is a repost. quote:However, it was a reluctant project for the company. "Until the day of release, Street Fighter 4 was an unwanted child," Ono says, his tone at once sad and defiant. "Everyone in the company kept telling me: 'Ono-san, seriously why are you persisting with this? You are using so much money, budget and resources. Why don't we use it on something else, something that will make money?' No-one had the intention of selling it, so I had virtually no help from other departments - they were all reluctant, right up to the day of release." quote:"After I passed out, I was thinking in the hospital: there are so many people at Capcom that, over the years, have disappeared at one time or another. Suddenly, in that bed I understood what happened to them... The day after a game is finished and goes off to manufacture there are 10 empty desks, their previous occupants never to be seen again." quote:"That's not quite true though is it, Ono," I say, when the giggles die down. "I heard that Capcom was eager for you to stay at home for this trip; to take it easy?" quote:"When Third Strike came out R&D didn't really consider sales back then," Ono explains. "We weren't as marketing-orientated as we are today. We just wanted to make the best game and wanted to please our most hardcore fans.

Anyone here have any experience with the game Asura Blade: Sword of Dynasty? Some friends and I randomly discovered it on MAME and we think it's pretty fantastic. Here's some generic footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEp4CqvxnGM It has a LOT of systems, and they're pretty cool: -pushblock (press forward during blockstun) -Supers/EX moves -Power-up mode that uses your whole meter and lasts the whole round, effects vary per character -juggles -air blocking -normal chaining -guard cancelling - input any special or super during blockstun to cancel your guard into the move. Doesn't cost any extra meter(!!!!) It's pretty badass, I recommend people give it a try. If anyone has any experience in this game and has tips to share I'd love to hear them, cuz it seems like my bros and I are gonna start playing this on the side. I haven't played the sequel, but from what I've read it changes a lot. Apparently most characters have completely different movesets, it adds air teching, different super bar sizes, and other stuff. If there's any kind of consensus on which game's better I'd love to know.

Does anyone know if there's a correct term for what 2D fighter people refer to as "fuzzy guard"? That being that thing where your character's hitable box doesn't move if you try to change guard stances while in guard stun. It gets kind of confusing trying to explain using actual fuzzy guard when the word means two completely different things.

That's what fuzzy guard means, though. In what context are you thinking of it?

Fuzzy Guard in 3D fighters is an Option Select technique that allows you to avoid multiple types of attacks by following a single pattern of blocking/moving. Really useful in Virtua Fighter for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIIJh8vQtEE And actually I'm not sure which thing used the term first. I was pretty sure it was the 3D Fighter version that came first but I could be wrong. I've been referring to that similar style of Fuzzy Guard technique in 2D fighters as Option Select Guarding instead but I dunno if that's right or not.

It's just called fuzzy guard when you're talking about 2D fighters. There's really nothing like 3D fuzzy guard in 2D games, and "option select guard" describes the technique used in 3D games better.

That's what I meant, I refer to the 3D Fighter Fuzzy Guard style technique used in a 2D fighter as OS Guard. And there certainly are things like that in 2D fighters, though they obviously work a little different ... so I guess OS Guard is probably a better term for it anyway.

I think Asura Buster might be better than Blade. The using meter for air tech mechanic is pretty cool, and also removes the uncombo infinites that were in the first game. It also handles Boost mode much better I think. The weird sudden-death thing you can activate is kind of a bizarre mechanic, but it doesn't seem very strong though.
