Is there any point to allowing fighting besides attracting fans? Do you think the game would be better or worse off without it?

Tradition, mostly. Emotions run high in hockey and sometimes letting 2 guys fight is better than one of them swinging his stick at someone's head.
I don't think it would change much since it's not like there are fights every game. It would be the death knell of enforcer-type players, though.

Why does everyone hate the Bruins? (Or just Boston sports teams in general) I've grown up in a Boston suburb and so I've been a Bruins fan my whole life, but recently people always seem to be like, any team but the Bruins should win the cup, or any team but the Patriots should win the super bowl (people don't have to worry about the sox winning anytime soon so no one complains about them). Is it just because the Bruins were raining champions and they wanted a new winner? Or is it that people hate how people in Massachusetts drive so much that they take it out on sports teams.

I was born in Montreal. It's genetic.

Does a goalie need to be standing the whole time? If an obese goalie is allowed to just sit in net and flap his arms, it might work.

They'd just shoot high and I doubt 2 flailing arms will make much of a difference.

And what's stopping a Defenseman from covering the other parts of the net?

Put some curtain hoops through his jersey and hang him from the crossbar.

The goalie would be distracted by his jokes and wouldn't be able to concentrate on the puck :\
