Yessss Blind Guardian owned yesterday <3 Never saw them before, and so I didn't really know if it would be good live or not, but it owned E: Amon Amarth and King Diamond playing Abigail in its entirety tonight Copenhell is shaping up nice this year. TollTheHounds posted:Is there some sort of context to this? I've googled and while I suck at it, I don't see anything about what this even means. Long story short, the Hoffman brothers were fired from Deicide, leaving just Glen Benton and Steve Ashaim as the only two original members. The Hoffman's are not only bitter about being kicked out of the band they started, but they allege that they have had royalties and merch payments stolen from them for years. Some years ago the Hoffman's brought back Amon, the precursor to Deicide, and even released a decent album under it. The problem is that all Eric ever does is post about how they're going on tour soon, lining up record deals, getting new merchandise for the fans, and yet nothing ever seems to materialize. Brian Hoffman actually takes the high road and stays silent, and even tries to encourage Eric to act his age and not throw hissy fits on social media, which he never seems to grasp. It's all just very, very pathetic.

^What he said. Deicide did one album on Earache with the Hoffmans, and they were already no-showing shows before it was out. They weren't there when I went to see them in November 2003. The Amon CD was drat near impossible to get a copy of for a few years, because for all the bitching about business aspects, neither individual nor distros/labels could easily get it. It was difficult, as in more difficult than sending a few emails and or whatever. There was some sort of hangup to them actually *doing* anything, and I've heard a fair amount of hearsay that they're basically not even a bookable band if the promoter does all the planning and gives them a paycheck. Disappointing, because those guys did some great stuff and Brian Hoffman seems like a cool and good dude.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll enjoy my yearly dose of Swedish dad metal either way.

Then again I've never been a big fan of the Hard Times, the headlines are generally really funny and spot-on but the articles themselves are mediocre.

So, apparently Morbid Angel (Trey Azagthoth) is doing another album with Steve Tucker while David Vincent finds his inner redneck playing honky tonk poo poo bars in Texas. I was never a tremendous fan of the albums Tucker played on, but it has to be better than that garbage they released back in 2011. Right? I always thought Gateways to Annihilation had some classic moments.
