I first heard Devin Townsend through his band, Strapping Young Lad and it was all love from there. I would recommend trying the album Alien, as that's the very first one I heard and I think it is a good introduction. If you want to go into the deepend, get Deconstruction. It is his latest solo album, from which that video I posted is from. Its like musical diarrhea, very chaotic, complex, loud, obnoxious, insane and awesome. He also has some pretty mellow, melodic stuff too. Here is Skeksis, from the album Alien. I think it is fantastic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjVT0MhSNeo Bonus clip of the mighty Aftermath, live. Go to 4:34 for awesomeness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qt1-GOx-zo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qt1-GOx-zo henpod fucked around with this message at 10:06 on Sep 27, 2011 |

I got a free ticket to Machine Head in Wembley Arena on Saturday. Bring me the Horizon were one of the opening acts and were absolutely awful; they all looked like they were 15 year old and had skinny jeans on. It was entertaining though, as many cups of beer kept landing onto the stage from quite impressive distances (It's a large venue). One hit one of the security guards in the face though which was hilarious but I felt bad for him. Machine Head, I have to say were incredible. Those are some of the largest circle pits I have ever seen.

I wonder if Jari has gotten enough RAMS to finish the Wintersun album. His computer problems are further compounded by the fact that their messageboard is down on the website too, which has not been updated since May last year.

It has an organ solo followed by a sax solo followed by a guitar solo and ends on a whistle chorus. I have listened to this on repeat 4 times so far and see a couple more plays coming up. What strange but enjoyable music. I know Alestorm are pretty disliked here, but I went to go see them on Saturday night in London and it was a really fun show. Perhaps it was all the rum I had drunk before going in, but it was a blast. I think my favourite part though was afterwards where about 150 people dressed as pirates spilled out into the street amongst the very surprised general population.

I just remember some past thread title being 'let Alestorm walk the plank' and people whining about how lame they were. Like you guys said, its just some fun and they do have catchy songs. There was quite an insane moshpit during Keelhauled. I want to be excited about Sonata but the last two albums just really have not done it for me. 'Silence' is still my favourite.

Dead Man Posting posted:Who made the album "Time"? According to Futurepedia: quote:The second Wintersun album, 'Time' was released in 2032 when the musician Jari Mäenpää (60) finally had the 3 terabytes of RAM that his computer needed to process the music. The album was soon banned worldwide after people began to die from brain hemorrhages due to the majesty and complexity of the album. His third album is expected sometime in 2060 and will require the cooperation of NASA supercomputers to process.

Holy poo poo, Wintersun updated their site.quote:"We are very excited to announce that we are going to be headlining the 2012 Heidenfest Tour in October. There was some setbacks with the album during the winter (again), but as usual we have managed to ram through them. (Big thanks to our management for helping us through the tough times!). I´ve been mixing my rear end off and things are going smooth and steady now and the album will be released late summer. Stay tuned for bigger updates about the album (or should we say "albums", wink wink!)“ Jari and the Wintersun boys, cheers! Also, Bolt Thrower are the poo poo.

Goddamn, Gojira were absolutely crushing last night, what a great live band. I am surprised the bassist's head didn't fall off he was banging so hard. Intense stuff. I wish they had played The Art of Dying though, and the set was a little short at about 1 hr 15. Great show.

Well, here are some impressions from some people who have listened to the new Wintersun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rJMYtLIB6Y Consensus seems to be that there is an absolute fuckton going on and it might not be particularly easy to listen to straight off the bat. This makes me think about Devin Townsend's Deconstruction which was a very difficult album to listen to until it clicked. I still won't believe this album exists until I have it in my hands and it's not just an hour of Jari farting to dubstep beats, completing his 6 year troll of the metal community.
