We know there'll be a wipe on release and we know there'll be a wipe in the patch after next. We don't know if those will end up being the same wipe.

It's like a fairy circle!

So I signed up for this thing way back in June 1, would my account still be active after all that time? And even then, wouldn't it be on the European server or whatever was the server way back then? I live in the US, so I'm wondering if it's still more favorable to run with the server this account was registered under or if it's better to just make an account on the US server.

Does SA have a strong presence in the US?

and also, I never even got to play the last time. Is there anything I should know that isn't covered in the beginning tutorials? What classes are good for beginners or are they all intuitive enough that I can just go with the class that I like?

It's much improved but there are still some builds that are pretty ridiculous. Perhaps not to the extent that one class dominates all the others as Iop did, but some things are probably unbeatable in 1v1 PvP.

Edit: typo

Finally, Srams! Lookin' forward to throwing poison on people and going invisible until they die from it. (Or not, that was ridiculously overpowered and I doubt it's still possible)

Ijuuin Enzan

No poison anymore. Plenty of fun, though. Here's their spell tree summaries.

The Fire branch is focused on the Srams' villainy and their ability to cause suffering to their opponents, particularly through the Bleeding state. This condition imposes an HP loss equal to its level (not reducible and not boostable) at the beginning of the opponent's turn. It disappears when the Sram lets his victim escape and doesn't reapply the state.

For the Sram, the Water branch corresponds to his capacity for robbing his enemies. When he's not stealing their physical property, he's stealing their capability, and reusing it to stab them in the back.

The Air branch is closely linked to the Sram's invisibility. It offers bonuses if the Sram touches his enemy while invisible. It also enables him to move his enemies or get out of difficult situations by repelling them. Each air spell has a evolving chance not to cancel the Sram's invisibility, based on the cost of the spell.

All in all it looks like these sneaky neon motherfuckers are going to be chaining backstabs, making Iops sweat and then loving off to hide giggling who knows where on the battlefield.

Hey guys! I noticed that the game just went into Open Beta and I was pretty intrigued at the tactics style MMO and player-driven everything. I'm thinking about making an account and character soon. Is there any particular class that you guys need/desire?

I was reading the OP and I was thinking about either Cra's Range, Xelor's Sandglass, or Ecaflip's Coin, but I can sign up as something different based on responses to the question above.

I guess most of you guys are playing in INT? Is there a way to change between regions after you choose? (I impulsively chose NA. Am I screwed?)

Will be in as "storgar" if anyone wants a level-up buddy or something.

We're mostly playing at NA at the moment, but currently it looks like every non-French server is open to everyone.

Ecaflip is currently not available! They're retired for a revamp for the "final" release of the game (Somewhen in February, also comes with a server wipe). Xelor is currently not great, so you should probably pick Cra.

Head to #wakgoon at irc.synirc.net and we should be able to help you more.

Well, I started playing as a Xelop's time guy and I'm loving it, but I just joined a nation (Brackmar) and have no clue what the hell I should do now. Help?

edit: Also what should I put my stat points in? I've been focusing on HP to survive longer and intelligence because all my strongest spells are fire based. Is it worth it to save up for 30 goddamn levels to boost action points?

edit 2: How do I learn more spells of a given element? I have every fire spell unlocked but only one spell in each of water and air, and I'd really like to unlock the next spell in the air tree since it synergizes well with fire spells.

Until we get to find out just what Ogrest's Chaos is all about, goals tend to be a little more abstract for now. I'd recommend taking yourself on a tour of the dungeons. It's a good way to get to know your geography and of course you get thrilling dungeoneering out of it. You could also meet'n'greet your Clan Members and get a feel for the professions. Brakmar's hot hot heat lends itself well to especially copious mineral deposits, and as a Brakmarian that means you're in a better position for the fine art of getting paid.

Spells unlock as you level up the previous ones in the branch. You don't need many levels, it should only take a few fights if you're concentrating on the branch you want to open up.

I'm having a very hard time getting into the classes, because most of them require you to get at least 1 level of some support spell to pull of the gimmick of the class. For example, Sadida's require the seed, Feca's require the shield to put your buffs on someone, and Pandawa's need the barrel. Overall, I just feel like every class is trying to be over the top gimmicky, and at these low levels I have no clue if it will get better.

What I do like about this game is how fluid it is for me. The transitions to fighting, crafting, going through different areas, running around, and pretty much everything I've seen so far has been extremely fluid in the change from one action to the next. Also, I really like the default ui options compared to something like the lovely ui SWTOR released with.

Also, after playing Dofus the classes in Wakfu just feel very underpowered.

Niccus

Those levels do need many levels before they shine, but when they shine they shine pretty well. Feca earth/fire shields and glyphs are pretty effective, Sadida dolls are amazing especially in PvP, and Pandawa has very good mobility, and water/fire locks down ranged enemies with no effort while the earth tree deals great damage.
Unfortunately, the new exp curve makes early levels even more of a slog, and there's probably a wipe when the game launches for real -- it's probably a better idea to pick other classes unless you enjoy grinding.

As for feeling underpowered, I recommend playing either Iop or Sram -- for whatever reason they seem to have the most effort put into their animations and sound effects.

At what point does Sacrier get anywhere near decent? I'm at 19, and the mechanics of the class just feel stupid. In order to put out 1:1 damage with a mob, I have to eat an extra 1/4 of my damage, effectively making each turn 1:1.25. According to the forums, you're pretty much expected to just put every stat point into HP, or AP + HP. How is this smart game design at all? You're given a huge page of possibilities, but the only way to not look sad and pathetic is the standard cookie cutter? I ran the gobbal dungeon last night and felt pretty useless. The Pandawa can jump farther, the Xelor's had better movement and damage, and the Cra had way more longevity than me.

Ecaflips are being revamped because enough people reported that they weren't fun or interesting enough. As much as the random-roll spell selection fit them, people just remade their cats over and over until they got the spells they wanted anyway.

I started an Iop and he seems really fun so far. I even unlocked all his skills from every tree. The skills from each element all have their neat little combos and now I'm not sure how to build my guy. I haven't spent any of my skill points yet at all because I'm torn. Advice?

In as "Darkmeat".

EDIT: HAHAHAHA so the gobball part of the newb area is bugged with all these stuck gobballs. One stupid pubbie thinks planting them bugs it out and was yelling at everyone planting seeds as "ruining it for everyone else". So, of course its the perfect opportunity to troll. I run around planting seeds (which worked fine by the way) and verbally harass him. Then, when I get the achieve (which gives you the 'cry' emote) I just stand by him and do it a few times and he rage quits. This game is great.

This basically describes Ankama in two sentences. It's what they are. It's what they do.

Sacriers are weird. It just seems to me like they're inferior to Iops in every way except for their HP and fire types don't even really have that because some retard at Ankama came up with the self damage thing and they just ran with it.

I mean technically fire sacriers have spells with higher damage values than Iops (per point of AP) but then Iops get a brainless +40% to all damage passive which directly negates that! Ankama is not good at design.

Basically you use whatever the gently caress combo you please (probably Celestial Sword -> Thunderbolt or Shaker -> Jabs) then attach Gutting Gust and Uppercut at the tail end and watch as you effortlessly outdamage everyone.

I finally started playing the Eniripsa's hands, and drat I'm liking it. I always like playing support/healing characters, and I really enjoy the fire line this class has. Plus the support spell Massacuring Mark is exactly the type of spell that I have so much fun with.

***edit***
Yeah, I was completely wrong about this class. The mobs are starting to outpace my healing capabilities by alot. Absorption is very useless at these low levels, and when a mob is hitting for 14 a turn and my heals are going for 4 - 5 a turn....yeah, it's just not that great. The marks are amazing, but the problem is they only do something if the mob marked dies. So, when you get to a boss type mob you run into the problem of your heals being horrid. The healing needs to be increased at least by 100% on the water line, and regen needs to be able to heal while the target is attacking and taking damage. As it stands now to make regen effective you basically have to take a player completely out of the fight. So, the majority of the time if you're coming down to these pathetic heals making the difference of the fight you probably would have had an easier fight if an iop or sram was there instead of the eni.

I'm in game as Broeta, so if anyone wants to hit me up for a group that would be great.

In group fights, your main job as Eni is probably to use Traid (WP) mark to keep your teammates' damage output up. Healing is just bonus.
The impressive part is, Eni direct healing used to be much worse. The only real way to heal was either to abuse the old Eniraser (it donated a % of your health), or to have the stars align and let you use Regeneration (it used to add health at the start of the turn, not at the end).
With the current, buffed heals, Enis might have almost decent healing at higher levels (especially with the help of certain gears), but it'll be a while before someone grinds enough to see if that's true.
There might also have been something about abusing 1200+ HP Coneys with 600+ Dodge before this wipe but that's a very different story.
