So, I just tried the Ace Combat demo, and it's... fine. I don't really appreciate the way they streamlined the gameplay with the Close Range Assault, but I said, hey, whatever, I'll just ignore it and play it like a normal Ace Combat game. 26 missiles later, I realized that the only way to take down a TGT Leader was in that mode. Bleh.

The Ace Combat demo felt terrible and this is the absolute worst game in the series by far. The older games are much much better, this new one was seriously a piece of poo poo. The new gameplay mechanics made it feel like I wasn't even really playing the game, and the controls were very unresponsive and awkward.

The worst thing about it is that they've gone for Tom Clancy's Generic Middle-Eastern Conflict as the setting. So we don't get any bosses or crazy world-threatening superweapons, flying aircraft carriers or submarine superdestroyers. Bah.

Given the singleplayer in Resistance 3 a whirl and so far it's absolutely fantastic ![]() Also I can see why the multiplayer is so unbalanced now! I just had a peek at the unlocks menu and once you're a high enough rank you can purchase all the super weapons as default primary loadouts. I was wondering why this one guy was just running around with a shield and an atomizer

I'm really anxious for that Uncharted 3 multiplayer thing to begin next month. I want to know how the multiplayer turned out, because the beta was a bit of a mess. [edit] Also, whatever happened with the Journey? The beta test for that was really good, and I was super excited because I thought it would be released soon, but ThatGameCompany has since gone quiet. I really disliked the UC3 beta at the start because some core gameplay mechanics had changed from what I knew and loved with UC2's multiplayer. By the end of the beta though I was absolutely loving everything about it and I have no doubts that Uncharted 3 will have an excellent multiplayer component that will be popular for a very long time. As it stands right now, Uncharted 3 is my most anticipated release of this year, and that's solely because of the multiplayer portion of the game. Twisted Metal will obviously be the best multiplayer game of 2012

I am with you, UC3 took just a little bit before you fall in love with it. I like how the maps have nice variety that plays to the strength of the traversal more than some UC2 maps. Plenty of smaller battlefields with multiple entrances and exits, for having exciting firefights and occasionally popping up where you aren't expected and actually getting stealth kills. As much as I am looking forward to Twisted Metal, I am getting more hyped for Starhawk. This new trailer for Starhawk is pretty great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PriJ...player_embedded

I just finished Deus Ex, and that has to be one of my top 5 games ever played. It seriously gave me the same atmospheric feeling as when I played System Shock 2 (probably my favourite game of all) Managed to get the Foxiest of the Hounds trophy but I must have killed someone along the way. Probably some douche falling into the sewers. Boo. Really hope that they have another game planned set after the first two.

MUFFlNS posted:Given the singleplayer in Resistance 3 a whirl and so far it's absolutely fantastic I've just finished it just then and can't say how much I echo this sentiment. If you like first person shooters and a real challenge Resistance 3 is the most frantic FPS I've played in a loooong time, because but not limited to: 1) The sheer balls to the wall number of enemies and enemy types it throws at you. Even on Normal difficulty you'll think enemies are respawning infinitely with the amount that'll show up. Each gunfight is almost it's own set piece. Enemies don't come in threes-and-fours, they come in dozens which makes it a lot more tense because- 2) There's no regenerating health, just health pick ups around the map and dropped by enemies. It's tricky to come out of a fight unscratched. 3) The weapons - while generic FPS weapon main-stays - come with a twist, such as a Magnum that has explosive rounds you can embed in enemies and the environment to set traps or explode faces The multi-player I have no interest in because it's probably like Bioshock 2's where late comers will always have less toys to play with, but the single-player's a solid 6-7 hours. There's also the usual array of unlockables from behind the scenes interviews, concept arts and cheats. The graphics aren't too shabby either. Also there's no turret sections if you don't like that kinda stuff.

Tamagod Sushi posted:The multi-player I have no interest in because it's probably like Bioshock 2's where late comers will always have less toys to play with This is true BUT reading your reasons for loving the singleplayer (the weapons and the chaos) I can safely say that you would enjoy the multiplayer because it's batshit insane. Put it this way, all the weapons from the singleplayer campaign are available in multiplayer, along with a bunch of other toys and gizmos. It's also worth noting that Resistance 3 will be getting free DLC next month in the form of two new multiplayer maps! There will also be paid DLC in the form of a new gametype called Invasion which I am really hoping is like Zombies/Horde from COD/Gears of War.

Funny thing is that if it is like its DS counterpart, then the book will come with every version of the game, simply because it's part of the gameplay. The game itself is going to tell you to look up a certain page, or spell, or something, knowing that you'll have the book right next to you. If someone released a strategy guide that looked like that for other games, I'd pay many dollars for it. It's just a gorgeous thing, cover to cover.

Mine's a slim, probably 160GB or whatever the usual slim's size was in mid 2010. Most of it I could probably scrape out and hardly feel like I'm losing much, but I'm not really buying games much either at the moment, so I'm not worried about ending up with a bookshelf full of cases.

It's not like you lose any save data or anything. I've got a 200GB HDD in my PS3 and every 7 or 8 months I have to go and delete a bunch of videos and demos that I don't need any more. I went and bought the disc version of Undead Nightmare so as not to need to use up much HDD only to find out that it needed a full-disc install. I hate that poo poo.
