Siliconera posted:

Electronic Arts is developing a new Dead Space game. No surprise there, but it doesn’t take place on a spaceship. Dead Space 3 is set on Tau Volantis, an icy planet where Isaac Clarke has to wade through white-out blizzard conditions.

Early in Dead Space 3, Isaac crash lands on the planet. He believes he may be the only survivor and makes his way to an abandoned waystation, which he uses for shelter from the snowstorm. There he finds a survivor who is severely injured. Isaac speaks to the near dead comrade who reveals there are other survivors that trekked off to another facility. One of them is Ellie, a key character from the original Dead Space game. Isaac grabs a snowsuit and heads into the blizzard.

Later in the game, Isaac reunites with Ellie and a new character named Jennifer. The trio scale a mountain, but Jennifer is reluctant to do so. She’s a tech type excited over finding a codex and plans to reverse engineer research by a group called Rosetta to gain access to it. As they climb up the mountain, they hear a howl from below, but cannot spot what kind of creature made the sound.

The enemies in Dead Space 3 are being referred to as "the hive mind."

This news comes from our mole that sent us details about Electronic Arts’ Syndicate reboot a few months early (stories: here and here). Pictures are from previous Dead Space games.

Realtalk: I'm 34, never owned a PS2, never played either of the Team Ico games, and am a wee bit of a graphics whore. But I always appreciate a quality game. Should I go get the HD collection tomorrow? Most reviews are glowing but do mention overlookable flaws in the general gameplay and such.

Also how long is each game, realistically?

Graphically they're nothing special in 2011 but artistically they're fantastic. I hate to sound like "that guy" but you really owe it to yourself to play Shadow of the Collossus, there's no other game like it

I think I hated RE5 because while it was just as cheesy as RE4, it tried to play it straight rather than going full-on "Your right hand comes off?" RE4 gave no fucks at all. dudes pushing boulders on you, a fuckin huge castle, a giant move-able Salazar statue, the entire MIIIIIIKE sequence and every single interaction between meester kennedy and a midget dressed like Napoleon

gently caress Wesker, bring back Salazar :colbert:

Sony is continuing to take the initiative to bolster its PlayStation Network following the disastrous hack earlier this year. Not only did Sony add another $20 million this summer to a Pub Fund it started a couple years ago, but today the company announced a new "Only On PlayStation Network" program to stress its flow of exclusive gaming content.

Starting on October 4, every Tuesday in the month will see several new exclusives on PSN, including Pub Fund titles like Eufloria and Okabu, as well as inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller. And the program will also feature a selection of "rare classic games" added to the store on October 4, including God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red.

Consumers who are PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive a 20% discount during the launch week of each “Only On PSN” game. On top of that, if you spend $60 or more out of your PlayStation Network/Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) Wallet throughout the month of October, you'll be able to receive a $10 store credit towards purchases in November. This promotion isn't limited to just games - spending can be on add-ons, PlayStation Home micro-transactions, TV shows, movies, Music Unlimited subscriptions, etc.

“‘Only On PlayStation Network’ is our line of great exclusive games that users can count on to deliver exciting game experiences that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Susan Panico, senior director of PlayStation Network, SCEA. “This strong initial content offering, combined with the day one discounts for PlayStation Plus subscribers and the ‘Spend $60, Get $10 Back’ promotion, makes PlayStation Network the premier destination for digital content.”

The lineup in the program is as follows: October 4 - Eufloria and Rochard; October 11 - Sideway: New York; October 13 - Sodium Collection; October 18 - Okabu and RocketBirds; October 25 - inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk Sidescroller.

IndustryGamers spoke with Susan Panico about the program and Sony's continued push for exclusives. We'll be bringing you that soon.

I remember spending a couple of the later boss fights allotting more time to picking Sheva up so that I didn't get an instant KO if I got sideswiped, and yet she pretty much just ran straight into getting knocked over. It almost felt like an escort mission instead of a boss fight after a certain point.

RE4 spent half the drat game as an escort game and it was less painful than RE5 single-player. Hey, "partnah", quit fuckin running straight into Jill and Wesker's kill-zone gently caress that part in single player

Apparently there is a max trophy level, because people are now hitting it. It's level 50. I know one "person" who hit it is actually a massively shared account for the purpose of jacking its trophy level as high as possible. I wonder what those people will do with their time now.

How many trophies does it take to reach level 50?

because I thought I've been at level 13 for loving ever and lv.50... :psyduck:

Xenoblade is what FFXIII would've been if S-E wasn't populated by a bunch of retards. Monolith Soft took all the great elements of jRPGs and combined them for an amazing tour de force, whereas S-E took all the retarded elements of jRPGs and made a lackluster press x-button simulator.
