E the Shaggy posted:A few weeks back, I was on a plane to Iceland and they had "The Nightman Cometh" as part of their On Demand entertainment system. Comedy Central ran a few syndicate episodes during the day this past Monday for some reason, and it was almost unwatchable with all of the bleeps.

criscodisco posted:Comedy Central is really out of control. From the network that brought you South Park, I'm watching "Dennis and Dee get a new dad", and they beep out "jesus christ", and even go so far as to blur her mouth out when she says it. Are you watching an episode that aired during the daytime? It seems like Comedy Central doesn't censor much at all (if anything) when the syndicated repeats air late at night, but now that they've started showing it during the day, it gets mangled. I don't watch "South Park" but I assume it only airs at night, too?

Dennis lurking in the background in his suit waiting to pounce on the weather girl was the highlight for me.

picosecond posted:I love that the cute girls in the store heard him mention Paddy's and were like, "Oh, we've heard of that place!... Can our boyfriends come too?" I'm not sure if that was cuz of Dennis' behavior or cuz Paddy's has a reputation, or both. I thought it was after Charlie showed up and started dropping lines about the bunker that no one can get out of.

criscodisco posted:I really hate it when everyone else enjoys something I didn't like, because I'm always relatively sure that it's my fault. Maybe I need to watch it again, because I didn't even crack a smile. How could you not laugh at Dennis not flinching as the darts and thrown at, and then into, his hand? That poo poo was hilarious. Also, the already posted GIF of him trying to contain himself at the "Dennis is bastard, why hate?" question. QuickbreathFinisher posted:Yeah, what is going on with this? It seems like it might just be a stupid little bitchfit one party is throwing, but I can't tell which one. It's basically the fallout from when retransmission consent contracts are expiring. Cable operators must pay a fee to networks in order to carry their stations, and when the contracts are expiring, negotiations take place. The cable operators don't want to pay the increased fees that the networks demand, and threaten to cease carrying their stations unless the networks reduce their demands. It leads to the negotiations taking place in public, with both sides conducting ad campaigns trying to appeal to the viewers, who just want to watch their shows. Each side tries to blame the other and uses campaigns as a call to action to try and use the viewers to get the other side to concede. In reality, these negotiations often go back and forth with each side threatening that the network will no longer be carried, but in the end there's usually an agreement at the literal 11th hour. In summary: both sides are throwing the bitchfit and blaming each other in the public arena.
