Okay, I've mostly got my addons working as I want, but I can NOT seem to find a mouseover healing macro that will let me, y'know, mouseover heal. Since /cast [target=mouseover] wasn't added until BC. Anyone know what the /script command would be for this? Or can I use some weird mod like Cliq or something accomplish the same thing? Basically I just want to be able shield/renew folks without having to click their unit frame.

If we've got folks still needing Greater Magic Wands (17.5dps! Priests, you are welcome), please let Vivienne know. Your donation of unwanted green items for me to DE is also much appreciated. Also, Siegebreaker and I will be looking for a WC/SFK run tonight if anyone's game. He can tank or DPS but sadly I can only heal unless you like listening to my whiffy wand noises

I fade and the mob just keeps beating on me, so then I have to burn mana healing myself up, when it's already going to be a chaotic pull because aggro is split 5 ways . . . exciting! Really though I would just kill for a decent level 25 water option; it goes from 15 to 35 and 834 mana to a level 29 priest is just sad ;( ~Vivienne

PvP honor system has been implemented. Time for week-long AV matches. Also: if you're a leatherworker capable of producing Cured Rugged Hide, Vivienne will gladly make trades with you to lock down all your cooldowns for the next several weeks. Finally got a Hide of the Wild pattern, and I'm looking to get those cranked out for all our healers. I've got a nice chunk of Larval Acids stashed away, and going to farm up the essences this week. Hopefully enough for at least 5 or 6 cloaks--I think our healer spread right now is me (Vivienne), Chanky, Bees, Cattleprod, and Frederic, with a few more making their way up the ranks.

Thanks so much to Trimm, Mushroom, and Barry for pitching in to get our LWers cranking out cured rugged hide for the Hide of the Wilds. If you have extra deeprock salt lying around, I know some of our newly salt-shakered LWers could use it badly. I have enough mats to get two cloaks made right now, but we've got 5 healers at 60 and we need every one of them geared to make salamanders fall over in MC this weekend. :

I played under Suicide Kings throughout Vanilla and while it was okay, it sucked to have a marginal upgrade for a minor gearslot send you just as far back as a really great upgrade for, say, your weapon. I also disliked the feeling that I wasn't getting any consideration for however many raids I had showed up over other people, and therefore hesitated to pick up items that would have been cheap under a DKP system to hold out for the big drops. I don't have a problem with class leaders leading the loot discussion for their people and selecting/encouraging specific individual/individuals to take an upgrade, but then loot isn't my compelling reason to raid this stuff because, come on, if we just wanted the loot we could go solo MC on our level 85 DKs or whatever. Also, I trust myself to look at my classmates' gear and effort and excuse myself against competing against those who need an upgrade more and/or have demonstrated their dedication to the raid team. Maybe others don't feel that way, however. The rand 100 system is fine for now, but I will say straight up that I feel more compelled to roll on gear that isn't a significant upgrade for me in this system than I would in any other system, just because there is no real penalty. DKP is a huge loving headache for all people involved, but if people are going to cry about fairness and not trust their class leaders to host a healthy discussion then I guess it's fine.

Death Bot posted:Most DKP systems would give people consolation points for not being able to get into the raid. While DKP is not my favorite option, I have been in a DKP guild where you still got points for staying logged in for the duration of the raid and there was some mod where every time a boss died you whispered the raid lead and they had some mod that verified that you were online and available or whatever. Also, bonus points if you spent the raid time farming mats for other folks. That being said I vastly prefer class lead with healthy discussion within classes. And in the case of multi-class loot, each class puts forward their candidate to roll or else each class puts forward their candidate and the officers/raid leaders as a whole select. The only time I have ever seen /roll work as a long-term solution was in a strict 10-man Cata guild and we had all played together for so long that pretty much no one ever rolled against anyone else anyway.

Also, I'm going to brush the Cheeto dust from my horrible untrimmed sausage fingers and push my glasses up my nose and type out a wall of text as how I see an effective class lead loot system working: The number one priority is gearing the raid in a manner that will allow the raid team to progress as quickly and effectively as possible. This means gearing healers and tanks, and strategically gearing DPS in a way that maximizes DPS, but this also means balancing this against people who put in effort to support the raid team in other ways, whether it's farming mats, providing consumables for themselves and/or others, or otherwise just demonstrating that they give a poo poo about progression. There is also an undercurrent of encouraging new raiders to come along, especially on farm runs but even on progression content, which means not ALWAYS defaulting to the ideal loot recipient in each and every circumstance. So the loot-picker-person should consider: -Who would benefit the most from the loot relative to their current gear -Who, upon equipping said loot, would provide the most benefit to the overall raid team, whether through improved DPS, better mitigation stats, or better healing throughput -Who does not fit the above criteria but has not received loot in a while or has otherwise demonstrated their dedication to the raid and should in some way be rewarded for doing so -Who does not fit the above criteria but has not received loot in a while -Who does not fit the above criteria, maybe is a newcomer to the raid/this tier of content, and deserves a token of appreciation to encourage return attendance -Any other intangibles To help inform the loot-picker-person's decision, their class members should provide them with: -How interested they are in acquiring said piece -How much said piece fits into their overall gearing philosophy -How long they intend to keep said piece/what point in progression they feel said piece would be outdated So these are basically the discussions that would take place in guild forums or whatnot, and when a given piece of loot drops, the class leader can double-check interest, maybe make 2 equally worthy candidates roll against each other, and then ultimately put forward their candidate for the loot. Knowing that these are the factors for loot recommendation should hopefully minimize drama and in the intangible areas raiders should generally be expected to behave like loving adults because for loving really guys it's going to be Vanilla forever and on a long enough scale infinite loot will drop to gear an infinite amount of players jesus loving christ. Also I don't particularly care to raid long-term with people who would pitch a fit over rational decisions like this, though I recognize that other loot systems are valid as a way of shielding myself and others from the sort of tantrums it has the potential to cause.

lapse posted:3. Class leaders - Class leader system sounds fine the way it was just described, but I would add that you need class leaders that are willing to defer on the "best" items that everyone always wants. I have been in guilds where a class leader gets the idea that "I'll take all this other stuff after everybody else, but I'm the first guy that gets ________". That's fine if you're the main tank and the item matters for progression, but other than that, just breeds drama. The uber items should go first to non-class leaders whenever feasible. Yeah, I think in my scenario even when I felt like I was most deserving/as deserving as X player, I would ultimately have myself and a second class member roll as a bullshit shield against this sort of resentment. YMMV. Also, as far as Garr--the devs haven't gotten around to fixing the elemental banishing problem which is the only issue with Garr as far as I now, but it is dumb that it wasn't the case the first week/2 weeks we were in MC and is now suddenly broken. Magmadar, however, have they really said it is "working as intended"? Coz that's rather infuriating.

In advance of Saturday's MC, everyone PLEASE please make an effort to get at least one nice gear upgrade. Warriors, please be willing to tank up if it makes or breaks an instance run going forward. Keep in mind that the Dire Maul instances have better than average stat distribution for most classes, and don't get hung up on UBRS too much. You can find upgrades for your class/role everywhere. I will be up all night Friday night helping folks run through stuff, and will try to hop on a bit tonight as well. Healers, please spend some time farming up Demonic Runes and the like. If you are healing spec, then kindly ask a warlock to help you farm--many warlocks can use the felcloth off the same mobs to craft awesome +shadow dmg gear (and if they need me to craft it, I can do that! I have almost all the Felcloth set pieces). Also, I can make you major mana potions (Dreamfoil and Icecap) or Elixir of the Sages (Plaguebloom and Dreamfoil) on Siegebreaker if you get me the herbs. If everyone can get just one significant gear upgrade prior to MC, we are going to crush Magmadar and Garr so hard. Please do it.
