I think it's kind of hard to stand out against the guest episodes when the premise of the Hostful episodes is just them talking about funny things that happened to them that week and having fun about being nerds.

These episodes stuck out for me though:

http://www.nerdist.com/2011/07/nerdist-podcast-103-breakfast-beers/
http://www.nerdist.com/2011/04/nerdist-podcast-78-large-puppy/
http://www.nerdist.com/2011/07/nerdist-podcast-107-mattstronaut/

On another note, how are people feeling about the Nerdist TV pilot? The guests and topics covered weren't new to anyone who listened to the show for a long time but I enjoyed it and hope that if the show got picked up they'd get an hour slot to work with.
The Mattstronaut episode is both the best and the worst of the hostful podcasts. Matt is talking about his amazing experience visiting NASA for a tweet-up and watch the final Shuttle-launch, a literal dream come true. In one part, where he's talking about the launch-pad itself he keeps getting interrupted by Chris doing some song and eventually gives up telling it.

You sing too much and have a screamy personality that interrupts conversations Chris :argh:
Otherwise I really enjoy the Nerdist :unsmith:

I'm glad to hear the New York shows were good.

In more recent news I listened to the John Hodgeman interview today and......I don't get it. He's got some funny moments on the Daily Show, but I just don't see the appeal overall. The episode to me felt like a steaming pile of awkward sprinkled with awful.

I was a little shocked since I'm positive about most episodes and this one stunk like fish left out all week.
He's great on 'Bored To Death' if only because he plays an unappealing nemesis to the shows main character.
"Unhand me you philistine!"

Also gonna chime in and say I really like Mira, especially after he left Apple. But then again I'm a huge spacenerd and hate zombiefans, which might skew my opinions. Also the face stroke joke was great, only the german accent sucked :colbert:

Also Chris did that loving annoying I'm-singing-a-song-while-your-trying-to-talk. We get it, you're in a comedy band with what's his name, but loving stop doing it over someone else trying to talk.
It could be a fun thing to sing a few notes if it's a comedic timing thing, but it keeps on going.
Otherwise really liked the Neil Degrasse interview, but at that moment I just had to shout "shut the gently caress up Chris".

He just has better pipes than you would expect him to--he treats it like he's always busting out a surprising joke whenever he pulls that off.

Ah Chris, you're a lovely, positive fellow but you make it hard sometimes.
I should be the new Nerdist, because I actually got really spergy nerd-mad when he was doing it over Matt talking about his NASA experience in "Mattstronaut". It was his life dream coming true and you're ruining his story about it Chris :argh:

If that's not nerdy I don't know what is.

I can agree with that sentiment, when Chris was on Aisha Tyler's podcast, he was a really good guest, and bounced off Aisha really well.

Talking of which, does anyone else listen to Girl on Guy? I cherry pick them, to be honest, because I don't care about a lot of her guests, but I'm prepared to be informed about great ones I'm missing.
I listen to the occasional episode. Like the Nerdist one it can be a bit conversational sometimes and I need to be interested in the person or topic to download.
That said, Jon Benjamins hour-long story of when he poo poo his pants was comedy loving gold.
Unfortunately the first episode with him seems to no longer be on iTunes.

The best thing with Ben, as opposed to Jason, on CBB and Improv4Humans is how Scott and Matt Besser just loving pile on him relentlessly and it's loving great.
Especially the episode of CBB with both Ben and Matt Besser (as Björk), if you haven't heard it you're doing yourself a disservice.

She also had a large role on the last season of Entourage which is like the biggest show in the history of shows according to the internet. She even played herself on it as Vinnie Chases girlfriend so she could voice some of her, I assume, own thoughts about not being a pornstar anymore when Turtle kept perving on her.

What? Did nobody else hate-watch every single episode of Entourage? :v:
Eh, uh, oh, umm....Oooh...ooh..euhm...ooooooooh yeaaaaaaaaaaah

I have no idea how The Nerdist has this much clout.
I don't remember where I read it but someone mentioned Nerdist turning into the E! for trendy nerds and it's really looking that way, it's become another press stop for celebrites like Reddit AMAs have become. They're even recording Nerdist episodes (or used to?) in the E! building

Not necessarily a bad thing at all, these are some awesome guests and complaining about selling out is such a dumb and weird argument, but it takes away some of the soul of genuinely convincing guests to come over like the cute letter they sent Tom Hanks etc. On the plus side there's going to be a whole slew of pretty cool guests coming on on a regular basis.

If Morgan Freeman didn't have Transcendence coming out and Tom Cruise with the Edge of Tomorrow these guests would probably take some convincing. Especially Tom Cruise I would imagine.

e: On second thought not really sure what I'm talking about in this post, cool guests are cool guests.

Even before it started to have a lot of A-list guests it was always using the term nerd to more mean when you are heavily invested in something. Not just traditional nerd stuff like video games and computers but comedy, movies, even dumb poo poo like Doctor Who (it's terrible stop liking things I don't like )

Doctor Who is loving terrible and I don't get how it has any of the respect it does. It's exactly as awful as LEXX was, yet it somehow has all this recognition in spite of it being better than only the lowest tier of TV shows, poo poo like Two And A Half Men and CSI Miami and NCIS and poo poo.
