After this episode, I wonder how the internet masses will react to the actions seen in the episode.

Fate/Zero Season two:Our cast is too drat big.

Mage Killer indeed. And it's about time Maya really accomplished something beyond surveillance and getting chased around by Kotomine.

Now that we've had a good half a season to introduce and build our characters, it's time for Urobuchi to start really flexing his muscles to bring us to the depths of despair.

The pacing on this episode wasn't great. There was a lot of stuff jammed into the first 10 minutes so it was hard to get my tension on. That said, the climax and the big speech were ballin'. If these events had taken two episodes (or perhaps if there hadn't been that long break), this would have been pretty drat brutal to watch. Poor Lancer. Seeing him break down like that from the perceived betrayal, particularly after Kayneth had been so cruel. drat heartbreaking.

Iri collapsing at the end was also such moment. You could really sense in her voice, face and body language that the shock and horror of seeing Kiritsugu kill for the first time, and his brutal method for doing so, had shocked and appalled her, and that she was even more enraged that Kiritsugu was being so cruel to Saber as to not even speak to her directly about why he had done it. And yet, even despite this possibly being the most hateful she had ever been toward the man, she still could not bring herself to allow him to see even the slightest weakness or pain on her part, lest she cause him even more suffering or dissuade him from his path. It really cast that whole speech in a slightly different light after the fact.

Oh and new thread title:

Fate/Zero: A Seal In The Hand Is Worth Two On The Fence

WARNING, NON-LIGHT NOVEL PEOPLE DO NOT READ If I had one complaint other than the pacing, its that Diarmurd's curse is a little too prophetic. Surely Urubochi could have foreshadowed without being so direct about it?

While that would be poetic and all, that's not why she collapsed.

(Novel spoilers)
She collapsed because she's got 3 servants in her and her body is starting to reconfigure itself into the vessel, remember? As for indirect foreshadowing, FZ was written for those that had already played FSN, so there wouldn't be much point in dancing around the subject. Hell, one of the next sequences in the novel is Angra starting to stir.

The LN-TL scene goes like like this:

“Unforgivable… I’ll never forgive you! You dead men who are slaved by fame, and desecrated the glory of knights… let my blood stain that dream! I curse the Holy Grail! I curse that your wishes will become disasters! When you fall into the frying pan of hell, do not forget my, Diarmuid’s, anger!”

I know WHY she collapsed. I was talking about why she REFUSED to collapse until after Kiritsugu had left. Her stuttered question as she falls makes it clear she was holding herself together until he was out of sight.

I will only be happy when the thread title is, Fate/Zero: Being Lancer is Suffering.

I want Lancer to be playable in Fate/Extra one day, just so that class can finally win. Although it would be funny if picking Lancer lead to an immediate dead end.

While we're talking about the LN, I always really liked the image that lead into Act 11 (the act this episode covers).

You can play as Lancer and "win" in Fate/Unlimited Codes. In that storyline Lancer forces Caster to use Rule Breaker on him and then after being freed from his contract with Kotomine goes and kills him as revenge for Bazett's death. After that he disappears.

It's really hard to say... I think Gil will stay around til' the end considering how powerful he is. Berserker is a really strong servant, but his master is in bad shape and makes dumb choices, so he could indeed come next. Rider is very strong... But I could see him finding out what happened with lancer and going after Kiritsugu to avenge lancer, whom he respected, and free saber, whom he seems sympathetic to.

Hmmm, I'll put my money on Rider next I guess, but it's really up in the air at this point.

I'm going to go with Rider, because Berserker seems to have some kind of narrative arc left.

I dare not get my hopes up that Rider will go out in some incredibly awesome way, because I know Urobuchi will delight in crushing them.

I have no idea. The eyes bit isn't in the LN, but there is a bit about him changing to look like a demon because of his anger, so that may just have been how they animated it.

Jesus christ! I thought things were going CALM DOWN after Caster getting nuked.

In the 5 second between Sola's arm falling off and the cut over to Maiya, I had about a half-dozen ideas on why that happened...none of which included Maiya coming out of gently caress-nowhere. Oh, and I seriously approve the new thread title being Fate/Zero: A seal on the hand is worth two on the fence.

But, what is supposed to happen if there is no judge? Anarchy is fun. Plus, I'm guessing the countdown before the credits is a timer, so all of this poo poo wraps up in a little over 3 days? That just seems amazingly quick, in my opinion.

Goddamn. loving brutal, Kiritsugu is merciless. "Not me, anyway". He's becoming more of a villain than a hero now, Saber pretty much nailed him and he couldn't even bother to respond? What an rear end in a top hat. I think Urobuchi might've been better off just retconning the whole "He never spoke to me except 3 times" thing Saber mentions in FSN, cause trying to stick with it makes scenes like that one kinda awkward, probably would've been better if they could tee off at each other.

Also Maiya must have a loving sharp knife to slice through an arm in one swing.

What the gently caress Kiritsugu, that has got to be in the top five most brutal scenes of all time.

I was thinking "I know the loophole to this, but they wouldn't actually do it would they? And they did. But I'm just paranoid and inclined to that sort of thinking."

What was the track playing during that fight there? Can anyone link it?

I find it interesting how there are some significant differences in Saber's personality in this show as opposed to her in FSN. I haven't read the novels so I don't know if it was done on purpose, but this episode and 11 make me think that Urobuchi is clearly setting Saber up for some sort of mental trauma. Or I could be totally wrong, I can't know for sure!
