Yeah, once I got out of Dead Money I knew I was due a Legion spawn so I went wandering north of Vegas to try out Two Step Goodbye. It was awesome They usually shred Arcade even with 10 CHA, but I can take 'em down easily. Not so sure about other companions, though Veronica seems to get shredded too. They seem to go for companions over me. On my next run I'm going to pop Vulpes at Nipton and get assassins spawning at low levels.

jonjonaug posted:I didn't kill Vulpes and I had an Assassin encounter during my playthrough. This was after I had gotten the mark and eventually fell back out of favor with the Legion. There's two instances of hit-squads that are separate from the Legionary Assassins - one is the ambush at the Forlorn Hope Supplies, and the other is courtesy of Karl, once you start trying to talk the Great Khans into not joining in with Caesar. Each instance is 3 or so, generic Recruits (possibly Veteranw? if leveled, can't remember for sure) with average weapons. Assassins are 4-packs, one of 'em is a dogboy and one a featherhead. They tend to appaer in more isolated areas, but I've run into a set right at the junction between the northbound highway to Primm/Jean/Sloane and the Mojave Station/Nipton road. I also just ran into a team south of Novac, at the radioactive waste-pile across from the Ranger station. The ones I'm getting are probably influenced due to mods, but I'm seeing this kind of loadout at level 50: 2x Marksman Carbines, 1x Brush Gun, 1x 12.7mm SMG, C4, plasma/pulse grenades and mines, and spears. :P A variety of food/drink and healing powders as well, and don't forget denarii. Hmmm, haven't seen a Legion Anti-Material Rifle since Dry Wells... and I hadn't seen one on an Assassin in a long time. That's annoying, I could use the ammo... Great OP, just wrapped up my latest run finally helping House come out on top and completing all the DLC except Dead Money. Lonesome Road seemed to suggest it was the last DLC being released for F:NV so I was wondering if there was any news about a new title in the works.

Go ahead! You could crop it if you'd like too, since there's a lot of empty space on the sides, if that bothers you. Anyway, loved Lonesome Road, and got to fight side by side with Ulysses as the silo came crashing down Could anyone who did a house playthrough give me a heads up on some of the dialogue, as the game thought I was sided with the NCR... This is weird - since an unusual and unexplained instance of Steam wanting to reload several gigs of content, I have been getting a "This save relies on items no longer available" message on all my recent saves when I re-loaded them. I couldn't figure out what was missing until tonight - I no longer have my Big Mountain Transportalsponder. I checked and I do have Old World Blues checked in my mod manager, so I don't know why it's not there anymore. Going to go look up the console code to re-add it. Edited to add: WTF, Old World Blues isn't listed on my mod manager anymore. Can't figure out how to re-download it, nor figure out how it disappeared in the first place. I need to get back to my base to unload some stuff! ClearAirTurbulence fucked around with this message at Oct 22, 2011 around 04:35 |

Nope, no mod influence, thats pretty much the loadout they carry. Generally you'll also see a trail carbine, 10mm SMG, hunting shotgun, 12.7 pistol and a few other things. When I first got the game (PC died, so on 360), I literally never saw a legion hit squad in over 100 hours played. Then there was an update, I was attacked by one group of assassins at a spawn point south of the 188 immediately, and never saw them again. Now? They are on my rear end CONSTANTLY. I know all of their spawn points by heart now and find myself unconsciously aiming the direction they'll be coming from or swapping to the grenade launcher to kill them all at once. All it takes is a fast travel or going in and out of a load screen and they're all over me. I've killed more of them than any enemy in the game by a good clip at this point. I miss when they never spawned. And a lot of NPCs have been killed in our crossfire. Ranger Stations and the 188 have been murdered wholesale more than once. Though one time in particular as I was finishing That Lucky Old Sun and was watching the vision distortion from the light off the solar panels I got blown to poo poo off the tower from behind. Those bastards had killed everyone at Helios One, went through the entire power plant complex and up the tower and came out the door to murder me the moment right after I hit the switch. I reloaded the save and killed them off easily enough because they were all wounded, but it was absolutely ridiculous.

I used NCR radio to call for support. One pissy NCR trooper showed up. 3 of them ganged up on him while 4th was trying to whack me with his hammer. Took me ages to kill them with the grenade launcher. Just completed HH and was thinking how I'll blow them away with .45 auto or riot shotgun. Guess it'll still be a long-rear end drag of a fight. steady fucked around with this message at Oct 22, 2011 around 06:33 |

Yeah I really wish there was some way to turn the assassin squads off better than the Mark of Caesar, killing the big man or something. They're nice from time to time, good challenging fight with good rewards at lower levels and an easy source of poo poo like sniper rifle repairs at high levels, but holy poo poo do they get old when the game randomly decides to throw wave after wave of them at you. Doesn't really help that past level 15 or so they're not that big a deal to fight but can still tear through companions/NPCs like motherfuckers. steady posted:Does that mean they get better weapons as you level? Yeah they have at least three different levels of gear, what he's describing is the top. Yours is another, bullshit level I've never seen, can't have been much higher than 7 when I hit Nipton last and the assassins almost immediately started showing up with much, much better gear than mine. All .45-70s I had to sell off because I knew it'd be forever before I saw more than the four rounds I looted off the bodies, that poo poo is cruel. I'm at about level 22 and I'm getting Legion assassin squads armed with 1x trail carbine, 1x brush gun, plus 10mm pistol and SMG and assorted grenades. The favourite spawn point seems to be just south of Sam's Grub & Gulp, the poor water vendor there spends all her time cowering in terror. I did get jumped by a squad at Novac scrap yard, but Old Lady Gibson and her dogs ripped them to pieces.
