EC posted:Apparently i didn't have the shield equipped correctly, it's showing up now. Made a Lofehunt and upped it to +5 to mess around with. Any tips? As far as PVP goes, mix up your attacks, and keep the pressure on. The blood meter can't fill up if you don't keep hitting them. Also the RB attack is surprisingly good at draining your opponents stamina.

Umberger posted:The Cursed/True variants are just fan-given differentiations between the two you can make. They have different descriptions, stat requirements, and scaling (plus hidden bonus damage to certain types of enemies I believe). Also congratulations on Platinum. Not hidden, it's there on the stat page. The Regular Sword deals it's magic damage as White. Bonus against all forms of undead and keeps Skeletons down. The Cursed version deals Black damage, bonus against 'godly' creatures, mostly those found in Anor Londo.

How come I can't put my Red Sign down in the Kiln?

If that DLC rumor is true I might explode from happiness before I get a chance to play it. This is the only time I'd blindly and happily buy DLC.

The biggest thing I'll be interested in (besides the obvious new content) is any change to the existing net code. Hopefully it'll be easier to summon/be summoned. @Stokes: thanks for the advice, I'm playing around with it now and it's pretty cool.

They fixed the netcode. It's fine now. Really, if it were a problem inherent with the netcode nobody would have stable, lag free PvP or Co-op. Since that isn't the case, it's got to be either you or the other guy's fault.

All fights are fair and fun when you win. It's only cheating when the other guy wins. ![]() Seriously though Dark Souls PvP rules and more people should enjoy it. It's not even a big deal if you die!

So if I summon someone, and then we lose at the boss, and I get "summon failed" every time I try to summon the same guy after that, it's my fault? So I was brought into Dark Anor Londo by some random dude tonight. I figured he had been invaded, so we set about trying to find the invader. No luck, and then someone else invaded. He led us on a merry chase towards the Anor Londo archers (which don't really faze my crystal homing soulmass that much) and we ended up killing him. We went back to the main hall, but at that point I was bored so I crystal'd out. Is there something else I should have done? I went around breaking vases in case the guy was using chameleon, but after 10 minutes or so I was done. I just feel bad for leaving that dude to defend himself.

It could be that guy's fault, if he's moving his sign, or putting it in the same spot over and over. That's exactly what would happen if he were.

You have to get past the boss to get out! Notice I say "past", the boss is non-hostile unless you attack first, and will happily let you walk by and leave the painting.

If you're going for achievements/trophies, though, you might want to look up how to cut off the Painted World's boss' tail.

Yeah, bearing in mind that you can always come back later and do it. If you just want to get the hell out and get back to adventuring, then just walk past her and add getting that item to your list of things to take care of before you end the game so you have them in NG+.

If you're in the great swamp or Anor Londo why not run through and clear it out. You'll be relying on the other person's Estus anyway. If you mean making actual progress, sadly no.

Just did some PvP in the forest. Invaded a guy with a phantom who must have been around level 600 something. Managed to finish both of them and got like 1.5 million souls. That's never happened before. Forest rules.

If you're waiting for the gaping dragon, you can farm humanity off the two clusters of rats near the bonfire, and green shards from the slimes. If you're waiting for Quelaag, there's lots of loot to go grab that is otherwise fairly tedious. In Anor Londo you can farm the knights for quite a few souls apiece, but it's rather boring work. And if you're relying on sorceries, your castings do NOT refresh, so be careful there. Otherwise waiting for summons is basically what the iPad was made for. Why do you think I post in this thread so much?

People that just do PvP run into people who only do PvP and the amount of souls each player has just keeps increasing exponentially, so every once in a while you'll kill a dude and earn several million souls.

Wanna send a shutout to "enderfan576" who summoned me two or three times for the fight against O&S. Each time, we'd get to the fog door and he'd whip out the Channeler's Trident and do the special dance.

Does anyone have a link to any definitive proof that it's quicker to circle a regular shield than a great shield? I'm almost certain that the timing to get into baackstab range is at least a quarter second different between the two.

My favorite part of Dark Souls PvP is when someone invades me or a player I'm helping and isn't prepared for my fuckoff-strong sorcery that proceeds to one-shot them. After sucking at pretty muche verything else, seeing someone just melt at my gaze like that is great.
